Just because you can grow any where does NOT mean that you should.

Take this cute little guy for example. Starting as a tiny little seed, looking for sunlight, pressing its way through the framework of my home. Inching little by little through the carpet and voila sunlight, finally success... right?

You see the problem? It grew in the wrong place. As surprised as I was to see him make his way, it's obvious he can't stay.

Soon maintenance will come pull the rug back pull him out and patch the hole it created.

Social media works the same way. Attention spans are short, competition is everywhere, algorithms are ALWAYS changing. Building a presence is already an uphill battle.

---> Why make it harder by creating content where your ideal customers aren't?

*** A lot of business are approaching social media the same way. They grow wherever they can get attention rather than where their ideal audience is.

This little plant worked so incredibly hard to reach the sunlight, unfortunately it reached the wrong destination.

Small wins like getting likes and growing your audience feels like success however, if your content isn't reaching the right audience; your growth may never produce your desired results.

**Growth isn't the goal. Sustainable growth in the right environment is.
Put your content where your audience is already spending their time.

Because social media is already hard enough without climbing the wrong hill.

You DON'T need a million followers.

What I mean is a million followers that don't buy from you is useless to a business. Sure if you are an influencer, a million followers might be on the bucket list.

You NEED to reach your target audience. These are the people who will buy from you- hopefully not just once either.

Today's task- make sure that some of your content leads somewhere:

*A fun behind the scenes story? Drop your client facing address and invite people to stop in.

*Sharing an amazing client outcome? Put your website on blast.

*Doing some community service or sharing tips? Pull up that email list.

*Comedy that resonates? Invite a follow.

Before I forget, shout out to whoever left this Duckie at the ATM. It now oversees my monthly calendar.

Don't let your target audience dead end on one post and don't let one post dead end on one platform.

You don't need a million followers- you need content with a simple repeatable strategy.

As a business owner, you have to get out of your own head...

And get into your ideal customers head. Master their emotions to engage your audience. People use logic secondly when making a purchase- feelings first.

Remember this when your making your content, put yourself in the ideal clients shoes, solve their problem with your solution.

You might be making this mistake that drives away customers... without realizing it.

It drive potential clients and customers away from your services, social media, and your goals.

Followers and customers get annoyed when you are constantly pushing your bottom line on them in-feed.

When someone follows you on social media they are looking for value, stories, tips... connection. I mean isn't that what social media is about after all?

You're funnel of trust doesn't begin with selling people on your service or product.
It starts with you building trust.
