HONOR THEIR MEMORY. SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY.

Today, Gilmer County Fire Rescue remembers everyone who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We hold their families, the survivors, and the responders who continue to carry the effects of that day in our thoughts.

Here in Gilmer County, we can honor their memory through a simple act of service:

• Check on a neighbor who lives alone.
• Help someone with a task they cannot manage themselves.
• Support a local food pantry or community organization.
• Give your time to someone who needs a hand.

As we remember those lost, we also remember the compassion of people who stepped forward to help.

CAN WE FIND YOU?

In an emergency, every minute matters.

Gilmer County’s mountain roads, long driveways, private lanes, and rural properties can sometimes make it harder for emergency crews to quickly locate a home or cabin.

Take a moment this week to check your address from the road:

Is your 911 address clearly visible?
Can it be seen day and night?
Is it visible from both directions?
Are trees, brush, or decorations blocking it?
If your home is down a long driveway, is the entrance clearly marked?

A clearly marked address can help firefighters, EMS, and law enforcement reach you faster when you need help.

Please take a minute to make sure we can find you.

Gilmer County Fire/Rescue Featured in ACCG’s Local Lens

We’re proud to see Gilmer County Fire/Rescue featured in this week’s ACCG Local Lens, which highlights the work taking place in counties across Georgia.

The feature recognizes our new three-story public safety training facility and the expanded hands-on training opportunities it provides our firefighters.

This facility allows our crews to train in realistic, controlled conditions for:

• Live-fire operations
• Interior search and rescue
• Forcible entry
• Hose advancement
• Ladder operations
• Fireground decision-making and teamwork

For Gilmer County, this is more than a training building. It is an investment in readiness.

The better we prepare before the call, the better equipped our firefighters are to protect our community when the call comes.

We appreciate ACCG for highlighting Gilmer County and the continued investment being made in the people who serve our community.
