The October 26th Open House at My Life Learning Center was a blast and very well attended by current student families, many TY families, county and elected officials, and employees. We offer group CDS and Employment Services, and Supported Living; Day Hab services is on its way !
TY families were amazed by the content of the program and the services offered through CDS and Employment Services. The county and elected officials were impressed with the collaborative partnerships we are developing for a Maryland workforce. "Best program in Howard County" comment was something that the employees found gratifying when it came from the families of the current students. The parents of the current students and the TY youth had an opportunity to speak with each other to share their experience about MLLC.
90 days into our DDA approved services and we are almost oversubscribed for the next year for CDS. Fortunate to hire couple of great teachers. Looking forward to hiring more teachers as the program grows.

Our 2018 accomplishments and 2019 objectives at MLLC
2018 Accomplishments
1. We attended 5 art shows; two of which were juried. Our students came to most of the shows and people loved their work.
2. Our students screen printed special occasion tees for the Howard County Autism Society (our 3rd year !); totes for Pathfinders for Autism and The Arc of Howard County. We also screen printed tees for The Arc of Howard County’s Employee Appreciation event and The Kaleidoscope; a sensory friendly social club.
3. We were a subcontractor to a small business for electronic sub-assembly throughout 2018. The fine and gross motor skills of our students have improved substantially. They graduated from manual screw drivers to electrical screw drivers. Our electronic sub assembly consists of 18 steps. I can confidently say that they have mastered at least 16 of those steps; two more to go !!!
4. Last, but not the least, we were granted the AUTISM CREATES trademark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It is a great accomplishment for us and really describes what we are doing.
2019 objectives
1. Continue to serve our customers with screen printing and electronic sub-assembly.
2. Invest in teaching ceramic work and glass based art to our students. It will expand upon our current portfolio of original and usable art.
3. Continue evaluating micro business opportunities through the Heilmeier method.
