This skilled labor creates business space for new companies to grow and thrive. All of this usually starts with steel er****on, where the backbone of these buildings are built.

There are several skills a steel erector, also known as an ironworker, typically need to have. The most common are rigging, crane operator experience, welding, extensive use of power tools and concrete work. They should also possess a strong construction knowledge, have confidence working at varying heights, a strong adherence to safety protocols and should be a strong team player.

One of the many things a steel erector will do is assemble scaffold and steel structural components. These support crews and construction materials during the construction or repair of buildings and structures. Unlike timber, steel scaffolding can be built to greater heights which is ideal for larger construction projects.

What is a steel erector?

Also known as ironworkers, steel erectors install beams, steel girders and columns that make up the skeletal structure of modern commercial buildings. It is challenging work demanding the highest attention to detail with a jobsite that must have extensive work safety protocols in place. Steel erectors create the backbone of the vast majority of commercial structures – big and small.
