Yesterday, we joined faith leaders and partners for a powerful Prayer Vigil, Rally and Procession to lift a collective call for public policies rooted in compassion, dignity and care—not harm or family separation.

Since then, this legislation has moved forward, but our shared commitment remains unchanged.

Grounded in our faith values to welcome the stranger, love our neighbors, feed the hungry and care for those in need, we continue to affirm a vision where resources support access to food, housing and health care, and uphold the dignity of ALL people.

“I was once a victim. I became a survivor. Today, I am thriving.”

A CWS Senior Anti-Trafficking Caseworker shares how she transformed her lived experience with trafficking into a life shaped by helping others on their own journey to safety and healing.

Through CWS’s Anti-Trafficking program, survivors are connected to the resources they need to regain independence, safety and healing through trauma-informed, culturally responsive care. Through CWS NorCal’s R.I.S.E. program and survivor-led training, clients are connected to critical support—including housing, legal services and healthcare—while communities gain the tools to better identify and support survivors.

After fleeing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Assa rebuilt her life in Tanzania’s Nyarugusu Refugee Camp. Through training in nutrition, organic farming, seed preservation and home gardening, she created a thriving garden that now helps feed her family and generate income.

Today, Assa is not only providing for her household—she’s dreaming bigger by expanding her garden, producing more seeds and helping other women in her community do the same.

Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, resilience can grow into lasting change. đź’›

On May 25, Pope Leo XIV shared a powerful reflection on the importance of safeguarding the dignity of all people. During , we’re reminded that how we treat others reflects who we are:

“A litmus test for social justice today is the treatment of migrants, refugees and those forced to move due to poverty, violence, climate change and environmental disasters. The way a society treats them reveals whether its sense of justice is driven by fear or by the spirit of fraternity."

Let’s choose dignity and welcome—for ALL people.

In 2024, The Karimi family arrived in the United States, quickly building new lives for themselves and their two children.

Despite language barriers and the challenges of resettlement, they secured jobs and began English classes—becoming active members of their local community.

Today, Afghan newcomers like the Karimi family are facing heightened risks due to shifts in federal policy and limitations on protections, making continued community support, advocacy and resources more critical than ever.

đź“· by : Last week faith leaders and advocates came together to march in D.C. to show Congress that we want to fund care, not ICE.

Congress has slashed over a trillion dollars in funding to Medicaid, SNAP and the ACA — putting at risk access to healthcare, food, and basic stability for millions of working families, children, and seniors across the country.

Now Congressional Republicans are trying to use the reconciliation process to hand ICE, CBP, and other agencies $140 billion over ten years for immigration enforcement, and that’s on top of the billions they already received.

We’re coming together, along with faith leaders like mundekep to come out and advocate for our communities.
