My talented sister made this lovely swan, just as I was re-reading some old faves in preparation for the latest installment of Feud. Perfect timing.

Indigo. Indigoing. Indigone.

There is no Cape Cod without blue. The two are beautifully linked forever in my brain. 🌊🌊🌊

I challenged myself to use only things that belonged to my maternal grandparents, or things that reminded me of them and their love for the Cape.

Easter, many moons ago (styled by our sweet Nan). ✨ Just wrapped up a few days with my sister, my built-in best friend. Each visit is far too short… 👯‍♀️

Orange — the color of my treasured grandfather DLA. It’s bold, loud, zesty and jovial, just like he was. 🍊

I told DLA once that orange was also Sinatra’s favorite color, and he responded with a curt, “He was a goddamned bum.”

DLA was a faithful servant of the USA via his career in the Navy, and even worked on a secret project at Camp David in the 60s. Sinatra was a “meddlesome nincompoop” who was too close to the Oval Office for my grandfather’s liking.

This exchange runs through my head when I think of the color orange, or listen to Sinatra’s music. He might have been a bum, but the song Summer Wind is an all time fave for me. And the movie (and songs from) High Society? Adore!

So yeah, orange. 🍊
