THANK YOU to the courageous community who joined us outside Governor Shapiro’s mansion yesterday to protest the PA Chamber of Business and Industry’s day-long event that included sponsored programming by weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin has made billions off of the oppression and genocide of the Palestinian people. It is unconscionable that the PA government would host an event stained with so much innocent blood. In 2014, Lockheed Martin signed a series of contracts with the Israeli Government to produce aircraft parts. According to Lockheed, this contract is expected to exceed $4 billion with another $933 million worth of agreements signed in 2016. More recently, in July of last year, the Israeli government agreed to buy 25 additional F-35 fighter jets, worth a total of $3 billion. And right now, in Archbald Pennsylvania, Lockheed Martin is producing 500 lb laser guided bombs that are used by Israel to murder Palestinians in Gaza. These bombs are dropped from Israel’s most advanced jet, the F-35, which is also produced by Lockheed Martin. The Harrisburg Palestine Coalition reaffirms our demand for a total divestment of PA tax dollars from Lockheed Martin. The Harrisburg Palestine Coalition is hosting a presentation and panel dedicated to the 1948 Nakba on Wednesday, May 15th, 5:00-6:30 pm at McCormick Riverfront Library.

Do not underestimate the power of knowledge. To know and acknowledge the horrific truth of the 1948 Nakba is to resist the western European colonizers’ longstanding efforts at erasure of the Palestinian people. While we fight for Palestinian representation in our school curriculums and history books, let’s catch up on what we missed. 🧠🫀
