Strike a pose!

We loved having everyone stop by the ESD tent at Meet Me on Main this year. Our newly added photo booth was a big hit! Visitors all throughout the day took pictures inside and were given a photo strip to take home and display.

Thanks to all who took the time to chat with our staff and learn more about Elizabeth School District!

Superintendent Town Hall!

Thanks to everyone who showed up last night for our first Town Hall discussion with Dr. Ted Knight, solo finalist for the position of ESD Superintendent.

We had a nice turnout and an engaging discussion during our 90 minute session that covered a variety of topics including Ted's background, his vision for ESD, plans for academic excellence, transparency, retaining staff, recruitment, school safety and so much more!

We also talked about planned growth for Elbert County and how to preserve what makes ESD special. Parents in the audience had great questions and we had students show up too.

We look forward to hosting more of these in the future, as we greatly value input from our parents, staff and community as a whole.

Following Tuesday night’s ESD board meeting, Superintendent Dan Snowberger announced that he is resigning from his position at the end of this school year. Snowberger’s current contract with Elizabeth School District will expire at the end of June.

Additionally, during that same meeting, ESD board member Mike Calahan, who also serves as board treasurer announced his immediate resignation from the board for personal reasons.

Prior to the board meeting, Snowberger had announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2026-2027 school year. Snowberger has now decided to move up the date of his resignation.

In response to Snowberger’s retirement announcement, ESD Board President Rhonda Olsen said, “As we say farewell, I’m grateful for three years of collaboration with Dan. His guiding belief that ‘students should go home with the same values they come to school with’, shaped our culture and our students’ experiences. Dan has my warmest wishes into his next chapter.”

Dr. Ted Knight, who serves as the school district’s Academic Systems Consultant, has been named as solo finalist for Snowberger’s position.

Snowberger told staff that by choosing to retire at this current time instead of next year will allow for Dr. Knight a greater opportunity to shape the district. He added that he strongly supports Dr. Knight and his leadership and has no doubt that the district will be accomplishing great things to come. Snowberger said he will always look back fondly at his time in Elizabeth and will continue to support the school district in any way possible.

The district will be hosting a Superintendent Town Hall on Tuesday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. at the EHS Cafetorium. Any members of the community are invited to attend and will have the opportunity to ask questions from Dr. Knight and hear more about the district’s plan moving forward into the 2026-2027 school year.
