When I teach a rollback, I always start with the outside rein. That’s what commits the horse. Then I use the inside rein to shape it and finish clean. The biggest mistake I see? Riders try to start the rollback with the outside foot. That pushes the horse off balance, makes the rollback messy, and costs you points. If you want rollbacks that feel sharp, balanced, and powerful- it’s reins first, feet second. Outside rein to commit. Inside rein to shape.
