Looking for a part number today and stumbled across this picture from 4 years ago when our son took his first welding class down at General Air. Fast forward to him now as tall as his dad and welding up fun projects right along side of him and it makes a great case for the need to bring shop class back to the schools!

The inside of a weld is a fascinating thing! Here we took two pieces of aluminum bar and welded them together to create a cross section of an I-beam. The millermatic 255 did a great job of penetrating the .125" material and creating a super solid piece!

82 cuts that need a total of 369 holes 5/8" in diameter. Bless that little ironworker and its hydraulic punch!

This bakery rack was too tall for the current display and could have blown over with a stiff breeze. We shortened the overall height and reinforced it with some flat bar just in case any young shoppers decide to use it as a jungle gym!

We want to give a big shout out to all the kids out there who are using their homeschool situation as an opportunity to learn hands on skills! Our son has been homeschooling since March and besides growing his fabricating skills by leaps and bounds, he is getting pretty good at wiring! He changed out a busted switch on our ironworker and had us back in business in just minutes!

Problem- exposed pipes needed to be accessible but protected from both forklift impact and curious little hands
Solution - fabricate a custom three sided guard that secures to both the ground and rear wall for stability.
Now the delivery was a little tricky but it's another problem solved!

Problem - safety gate at the top of this access ladder was a bit well...unsafe
Solution - fabricate a bracket that moves the gate away from the ladder to create a safer platform for the user to stand.
Add a little safety yellow paint and you have yourself another problem solved!

The guy who began his working career pushing carts at age 16 was back at it today only this time he was welding 85 of them that desperately needed repair. Thankfully we had our son who is just about the age Ed was when he started and he got to try his hand at wrestling them all over the lot!
