Good Ground Bible studies for adults are fertile soil for the seeds of truth. As in Jesus' parable of the sower, the seed falls on all kinds of soil but takes root only in "good ground."

Good Ground uses a method of study that begins with everyday life, moves into an examination of what the Bible says, then suggests life applications. Each session ends with a brief worship experience.

Written in a lively style, the sessions tap into a variety of learning styles. Good Ground gets participants involved in the learning, moving beyond the head and into concrete living from the heart.

The six-session units are published on a wide range of biblical topics from Genesis to Revelation. Each session contains Leader Guidelines so that leadership can be passed around easily from week to week. Many titles are available in print form, and all are available in digital form.

This week our featured Covenant Bible Study is 1 Corinthians: The Community Struggles, by Marcos R. Inhauser.

The Corinthian church struggled to find its purpose in a competitive society where ambition and individualism ruled the day. This, along with increased pluralism, elevated tensions within the church and prompted instruction from Paul. This study examines the various struggles and points to a resolution that includes Christian community and cultural diversity. We can live faithfully as Christ’s disciples while still living in the dominant culture. Practical examples will combine with Paul’s teachings, to help us look critically at our own divisions and inspire us toward the hard work and rewards of Christian unity.

Looking for ways to bring this Sunday’s Bible story, Song of Wonder, into your home? Here are some simple ideas for the week ahead.

📚 Read pages 88–89 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Psalm 139. The Psalmist wrote, “I praise you, for I am made in a wonderful way.” Name something wonderful that you can do.

🙏 Pray as you touch each finger on one hand, thanking God each time for a different part of your body and naming something that part allows you to do. For example, “Thank you for my fingers that can draw.”

✏️ Draw an outline of a person on a piece of paper using art supplies, stickers, and pictures cut out of magazines. Create a design that reflects how God made each person in a unique way, encouraging each participant to decorate their figure in a way that expresses their uniqueness.

This week we are featuring a Covenant Bible Study focused on Joseph, by Gene Roop.

The story of Joseph concludes the ancestral narratives found in Genesis. Even though it ends well with Joseph reconnecting with his brothers and father, it is fraught with family conflict. There is parental favoritism, sibling hatred, and the question of generational sin. Studying this rich story will open us to constructive ways to respond to the conflict we experience in our families and congregations. As with Joseph, God is quietly working—through, alongside, and beyond—in response to the choices we make. God invites us to be part of God’s new world of shalom and well-being.

The time has come! Announcing our newest children's book, by Gimbiya Kettering. Washing My Sister's Feet will be available in late June, and you can preorder now. Or, if you'll be at Annual Conference, plan to purchase the book there and get it signed by Gimbiya!

Ilse is going to love feast, a special event at her grandmother's church. But she's annoyed because her big sister, Lina, always gets to do everything first. This is a story of sisters—and also a dad who understands and a church that widens its circle.

For the story in this children’s picture book, writer Gimbiya Kettering draws on her experience growing up in the Church of the Brethren, her sensitivity as the mother of two girls, and her nuanced understanding of a multiracial family finding meaning in the traditions of faith.
