It was a special day for U46 Science & Planetarium.

Meet Joe Kellenberger, Elgin High Alumni and high school physics & astronomy teacher, who has officially started his tenure as the U46 Planetarium Teacher!

As most of you know, Peggy Hernandez will be retiring at the end of the this school year!

Today Mr. Kellenberger enjoyed his first, first day with U46 students as Mrs. Hernandez enjoyed her last, first day with students!

We are so excited to have you join our team, Joe!

For the longest time we only had one photo of our original shop on North Street. While on the Open Elgin tour, we saw an aerial photo of Elgin in the lobby of Anguaris Tech and in one tiny corner was our shop. It was taken around 1936 and you can see the two bay shop as well as the corner store.

It was a bittersweet day here at the shop yesterday as we celebrated 3rd generation owner Jack Kellenberger’s retirement. We wish him all the best as he transitions to his role as full time Papa to his five grandkids! Thank you for everything you did over the years to make Kellenberger Auto what is today. Lloyd Kellenberger passed away Wednesday, May 19,2021. After leaving the Navy, he joined his father's repair shop and then partnered with his brother Bill to grow the business. Lloyd retired to Florida in the nineties. He will be missed, a true craftsman in everything he did.

Throw back Thursday. While clearing out some old photos, we found this one of our second building. The Ludwig Dairy truck was the reason for many late nights for Herman as he kept their fleet running as they moved from horse drawn wagons to horsepower. We know the photo is from 1940 but have no idea where. If anyone has an old city directory and can find the address it would be appreciated.
