I could not resist these happy faces today. Pansies are usually the first annuals I will put out in Spring. They can take some cold and even endure a spring snow. Not that we will ever have that in Chicago! 🙏 Pansies don’t like a lot of heat, so I usually change them out around Mothers day. . . . . .

My Thanksgiving cactus is blooming! How do I know it’s a Thanksgiving cactus and not a Christmas cactus, you ask? 1. It’s blooming right around Thanksgiving! Ok, she’s a few days late but I’m ok with that. 2. Another way to tell is the leaves are broad and flat with slight serrations along the edge. 🪴This is a very easy plant to grow. I transplanted it into cactus mix and have it In limited sun. It blooms easily with no special treatment. Are you growing Schlumbergera truncata? 🌿🌿

Gymnocladus dioicus on the ground. Kentucky coffee is always the last to leaf out. You would think she would be the last to leave the party in the fall. But no. She’s already out of here! One of my favorite trees. Make sure you get a male so you don’t have to deal with the seed pods.
