The Chr. Tomters veg project transformed a modest red timber house into a richly layered home designed around the rhythms of a large family. Rather than extending the original structure as a single volume, the project unfolds as three red houses connected through a sequence of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Winter gardens, passageways, sunken rooms and forest-facing lounges create moments of both gathering and quiet retreat. A nuanced palette of red timber, brick, steel and tiles ties the additions together, while a preserved blue door and fragments of the original white window frames offer small reminders of the home's earlier story.

This former Victorian waterworks was carefully reworked into a modern workspace while retaining its strong historic character.

The new rooftop extension references the site’s Egyptian Revival architecture through its tapered form and material palette. Clad in Corten steel, the addition sits in contrast with the original brick structure while still feeling connected to it.

Interior finishes take cues from Egyptian motifs and the surrounding landscape, creating spaces that feel warm, durable and considered throughout.

Warm Minimalism: Crafting Spaces with Depth, Warmth, and Restraint - modlar.com 05/27/2026

Warm minimalism is what happens when restraint finally makes room for comfort. It keeps everything people love about minimalism, the clarity, the space, the sense of calm, and layers in organic texture, earthy color, and materials that actually feel good to be around.

Facing a dense forest along a narrow one way road, House Of Endless Trees responds to its setting through openness, elevation, and carefully framed views into the surrounding greenery.
The home combines open living and dining spaces with quieter areas for reading, yoga, and reflection, while details like the timber veneer ceiling and floating oil holders bring warmth and character throughout the interiors.

The VIP Centre at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol reimagines the airport lounge as a curated experience rooted in Dutch identity. Rather than a single open space, the project moves through a collection of distinct interiors that reference different eras of Dutch art and design.

Ornamental detailing, historical motifs, and contemporary furnishings create moments that feel immersive without losing a sense of comfort. Some rooms support focused work with integrated technology and privacy, while others lean into relaxation and sensory experience.

Brooklyn’s tallest tower reaches far into the skyline, yet much of its character reveals itself at eye level. The Brooklyn Tower by SHoP Architects built on the legacy of its historic neighbor, the Dime Savings Bank, weaving that presence into a contemporary residential tower.

For the interiors, Woods Bagot used a modern classicl aesthetic that feels both grounded and refined. The 6,000-square-foot lobby sets the tone, carrying motifs from the landmarked base upward into a layered amenity program above.

Happy Star Wars Day! This feels like the right moment to look at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which opens later this year. A project centered on storytelling takes shape here as something spatial and immersive.

Set within Exposition Park, the museum rises as a sculptural, organic form shaped by light and atmosphere. Lifted above the ground, it creates a shaded public plaza beneath sweeping steel arches, offering a civic space that connects directly to the city.
