Today is Glioblastoma Awareness Day 🩶

Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer, changing the lives of patients and families in an instant. At the Uncle Kory Foundation, we know the impact of this disease all too well. Kory's courageous fight with brain cancer continues to inspire our mission to fund innovative research and bring hope to families facing the unimaginable.

Today, we honor every family and every life impacted by brain cancer. Together, we can raise awareness, support life-changing research, and move closer to a future without it.

🎉 Exciting news! We're thrilled to announce our 2025–2026 F.L.A.G. Renewal Grant award of $100,000 over 2 years to Dr. Katrina O'Halloran and Dr. Ashley Margol at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Their project, Cerebrospinal Fluid Liquid Biopsy in Pediatric Embryonal Central Nervous System Tumors, uses innovative liquid biopsy technology to detect tumor DNA in a child's spinal fluid. This helps clinicians diagnose brain tumors, track how treatment is working, and identify relapse risk earlier, all so treatment can be adjusted and personalized for each patient.
In prior patients, this technology has already led to life-changing shifts in care.

We are honored to continue funding this work and remain committed to improving outcomes for children fighting brain tumors.

🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Satoru Osuka and the team at University of Alabama at Birmingham on receiving a 2025–2026 Uncle Kory Foundation Renewal Grant!

This $50,000 renewal grant will support Dr. Osuka’s project, “Targeting Recurrent Glioblastoma Cells,” which is focused on developing innovative immune-based therapies for recurrent glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive and difficult-to-treat forms of brain cancer. Building on promising early results, this continued funding will help advance research aimed at improving outcomes for patients and families facing this devastating disease.
