Loved my time speaking to GATE parents at El Segundo Unified School District last night. Thank you to asst principal and superintendents Emily Moran and Olivia Yaung for inviting me, and thank you to the parents who showed up and want to learn how to better support their kids when it comes to and . It was great to talk to a room full of such kind, open and thoughtful parents who are all trying to do their best.

And to be greeted with the message on the school door stating "in a world where you can be anything be kind," I think that's a great place to start.

Five years ago our evergreen title The Parent Compass was released into the world! It is hard to believe how much fun, connection, and community we have packed into these years. Our book continues to be a parenting go-to for all parents navigating the tween and teen years.

We had 2 simple goals when writing our book: 1) To help parents of tweens and teens parent better in the context of this uncertain and competitive world and 2) To keep the mental health of teens and the parent/teen relationship at the forefront. Those goals still matter. And reading our book proves that we can help you reach them.

We have been overjoyed by the support of this virtual and IRL community and so many readers who continue to reach out to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping make this journey so fulfilling.

We were honestly not thrilled to be launching a book during Covid, but our worries were assuaged when we felt the love and support of readers, thought leaders, teachers, parents, administrators, podcasters, therapists, college counselors, fellow authors, friends, family, colleagues, bookstragrammers, newscasters, and our faithful publisher to support and make our work feel relevant, appreciated, and understood.
