Teacher - 18-22 year old program, Adult Transition - Job #2021-2022-021 at Wiseburn Unified School District | EDJOIN 08/12/2021

Hello Teacher Friends (or friends of teachers)!

I recently got an amazing opportunity to utilize my classroom special education knowledge beyond the classroom, working with teachers in a variety of placements and settings, providing them support and resources as needed. After a lot of careful deliberation, I decided to take the new position.
While I am thrilled to be working as a Clinical Manager with The Stepping Stones Group, I had to leave work I love - working with Transition-age students in the community setting.

ATTENTION: any teachers out there looking for a job in the LA/South Bay area? For a change? Apply for the Wiseburn Unified School District Adult Transition Program position! It was a job I loved at an excellent district that provided a lot of support.
Check it out and feel free to IM me with any specific questions about the position. Transition positions do not come up often, so in the words of the infomercials: ACT NOW! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Just a word of advice to any new/in-process teachers, still going through the credential process - if you are interested, apply anyway and see what happens. NOTHING VENTURED, NOTHING GAINED. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Funny Friday! Iโ€™ve been working with my students on applications and abbreviations common to them. After two days of review, I gave them a google quiz and these were my favorite incorrect answers. Whatโ€™s the funniest abbreviation mishap you have encountered?
If you are interested in presenting this to your students, click the link in my profile!
The interactive PDF has yellow, red, and blue boxes to allow students with limited language to more fully engage in this lesson during distance learning!
Have a great weekend, everyone. Doubtless, it is well-earned!

Hi all,

I finally finished the interactive PDF for application abbreviations!

Abbreviations are always one of the first things I review at the beginning of a new school year. Reteaching these abbreviations activates the students' prior learning and primes our students for future application practice and functional reading skills as they take the classroom into the real world. Included in this packet are 36 of the most common abbreviations found on applications, such as:

St.
Ave
Blvd
Ct.
mo.
yr.
SSN
wk
DOB
FT
PT
AM
PM
Req.
Avail.
ASAP
Exp.
ID, and more!

Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions about what would be useful in your class! I would love to hear how you use this activity with your students.

Happy Teaching!

Amanda

Hey all!

I've been working on a way to make watching a movie be a little more intentional and thoughtful for my students. I don't want to rob anyone of the joy of simply watching a movie, but I'm teacher and I definitely want to hear more about how much my students are following the sequence of events, how they are growing in their summarization skills, and truly, what their opinions are. So I made this and plan to use it with an end of the day movie, distance-learning style!

I will definitely be adding to this product, but the simple format can be utilized with a book OR a movie. It's all about differentiating for the skill level!

Happy Friday-Eve, everyone!

For the all teachers out there that are doing double-time in the strangest time, during the most stressful situations, this sale is for you. 2020 is a challenging season and almost everyone has been pushed to (and at times, past) their limit.
While many of my items are designed for in-class use, there are several items (and growing!) that will translate quite easily to this new distance-learning era that we have hopefully begun to feel more confident in.
Everything is 20% and if you type in the code THANKYOU20 you get an additional 5%.
If there is something specific that you would like me to develop that would assist you in a life skills class, please PM me, as I am currently developing items for my own classroom. I am happy to help you - just tell me what you need!
Check out the sale and let's all support one another and give a lot of grace to our admin, fellow teachers, students, children, and most importantly, OURSELVES during this uncertain time.

Stay safe,

Miss Sass

This is a safety life skills product for emerging learners, working to differentiate between food and non-food items. There are several strategy worksheets to reinforce the content learned in a variety of ways. I have included a lot of visual aides for students who are multi-modal learners and may have difficulty reading.

The activities included are fun and keep students attention, while reinforcing the content.

There are two levels of differentiation: one is icon-based and the other uses real photographs of food.

Stay safe everyone!

Greetings everyone!
This is a tough time and almost everyone has been pushed to (and at times, past) their limit. I hope you are all staying in and staying well during these strange days and I don't need to know you personally for my prayers to be with you. They already are.
I truly wish I had more to offer teachers and parents during this time. I have been offering parents creative ways to access their student's functional math, English, and vocational skills, but I am most grieved that I don't have an abundance of resources that translate seamlessly to the home environment. I am working on it, but I have many projects I am working on concurrently and the resources aren't being produced nearly as quickly as I would like.
However, I am holding a two-day sale on my TPT and there are several items that will translate quite easily to this new distance-learning era that we find ourselves in. Everything is 20% and if you type in the code FORYOU, you get an additional 5%.

Stay safe,

Miss Sass
