Pupdate post! It’s hard to believe that sweet Selma crossed at Paso del Norte Bridge more than 4 years ago! Poor girl had clearly recently given birth although her puppies were nowhere to found (we looked!) and she was extremely emaciated— you could see all her bones! She was also burning up in fever due to a bad case of ehrlichia. Selmita would not have survived very long had she not crossed the border. The third photo is from the day Ruby picked her up.
After a few foster homes, Selmita found her forever home with the kind-hearted ! Look how happy, healthy, and beautiful Selma is!
None of this would’ve been possible without donations, fosters, and of course, adopters. Thank you to ALL who helped Selmita find her happily ever after. ❤️🐾

Hi friends, very temporary foster needed for sweet senior Bridge Pup Floyd. He lives with several other pups and loves all people and pups! He’s suuuuuper low key and low maintenance, is house broken and is an all-around good boy. Foster period would be from June 8-13. Food and supplies can be provided! Let us know if you can help!

Hi friends. A disappointing and frustrating pupdate from Carmelita’s dad .g: our precious Carmelita arrived for her surgery today at Ángel de Juárez and they did bloodwork to make sure she was good to go under anesthesia.
Sadly, her labs showed high kidney values, the lingering presence of her previous pancreatitis and high liver values. The doctor told her dad that considering these values, going under anesthesia was very risky. He recommended a new oral medication treatment plan for 60 days, and then surgery for her hernia after the 60 day treatment.
Isaac and I are both baffled as to why these high values weren’t caught prior; Carmelita is a happy little girl showing no signs of any pain, although we did get her treated for the pancreatitis at West Texas recently. But, we’re not vets and we fully trust the vet’s recommendations so in the meantime, please send all your good juju that the meds work so we can treat her hernia ASAP!
As an aside, Carmelita might have surpassed Nacho as our most sickly Bridge Pup with the most vet visits EVERRRRR. 😭❤️🩹
Lastly, thank you for the donations as the estimated $750 for that cost is (almost) completely covered! I’ll keep you pupdated as I hear how she’s doing from her dad Isaac!
We’re rooting for you and love you, Carmelita!!!!

LOOOOONG-AWAITED CARMELITA PUPDATE (and a plea for help!)
🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉
It’s been over one year since our precious Juarense angel girl Carmelita crossed the border and began her very long and challenging journey to health and happiness. After 5 months of being fostered by .g, he has committed to ADOPTING HER!!!!!!!!! 😭🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Part of our mission here at Bridge Pups Rescue is to always ensure that our Bridge Pups are not only in loving and safe forever homes, but that they are healthy and thriving. Sometimes that has meant continuing to help with medical costs even after adoption. We’ve done this for several of our adopted Bridge Pups, and if it means that the pups are not bouncing from foster to foster, we’ll continue to help however we can!
So, here’s where we still need help for sweet Carmelita:
Carmelita has a very large and very worrisome hernia and is in urgent need of surgery. Our friends at West Texas Cimarron gave us a quote, and we also got one from this vet in Juárez Vet Ángel De Juárez and we’ve opted for the latter because of the significantly lower cost. In USD, it’ll be about $750.
Can you help us cover this vet bill for Carmelita’s much-needed surgery scheduled for tomorrow?

Thank you to ALL who have been and who continue to be a part of Carmelita’s long journey to HAPPINESS!!!!!!! ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾
We love you, Carmelita!!!!!!!

We just got our first immigrant pup in a loooong time. This cutie pug’s owner is currently being processed by Immigration in Santa Teresa, NM. Our amazing team member Chris in Las Cruces stepped up to help us by fostering the pug for the few days while her owner is processed. Thank you, Chris!!!!! If for some reason the process takes longer than the usual few days, we’ll need a backup foster. Please let us know if you can be a back up foster in the Las Cruces/ El Paso area.🙏🏽🐾❤️
