Safe Sitter® prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR mannequins to practice choking rescue and CPR.

📚 Say hello to our newest team member , Lars Gilpin, User Experience Coordinator, who joined the Effingham Public Library family in February!
Their favorite library program in Dungeons & Dragons and a fan of Rick Riordan, Lars brings a great energy to the team.
Ask about Inter-Library Loans and you'll get an enthusiastic answer — because even if it's not on our shelves, the library will find it!
Their biggest wish? To see more teens and adults getting involved in programs and making new friends in the community. We love the vision, Lars has! 💙
Welcome to the team we're so glad you're here! 🎉
