Sunday May 22nd we will be hosting the 2nd annual Bubba Memorial Workout.
lost her brother to su***de on April 21, 2020 and we are committed to keeping his memory alive by honoring him on what would have been his 43rd birthday. To his family he was affectionately known as “Bubba”, and to his teammates he was comically known as “AZ”. Eric Hohman is one of those teammates and he has founded First There Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure all Combat Controllers have a teammate to reach out to when life becomes difficult. Their goals are to eradicate su***de among teammates and restore self-confidence, purpose and self esteem. They connect Combat Controllers to Mental Health, Financial, Career and Substance Abuse Providers.
Please see the links below for more information about the good work the First There Foundation is doing and the important role Combat Controllers play in the Special Operations Community.

Happy Mother’s Day Workout
Mother’s are sometimes working behind the scenes and giving more than we know.
Being selfless without recognition is the perfect picture of service. The ones that give should be recognized and not just today. Our hope is to build a place that recognizes the effort. The effort might look different for each person but it’s the effort that matters.
always leads with beauty and grace. She doesn’t like the attention, but our gym would not be the same without her.
To all of you moms. We love you and are so thankful for you.

“Broken”
Many people are feeling the pain and suffering from the last 8 weeks.
We might be broken, we might be beat up, but we can repair. We can heal. Can we come back stronger?
There is a choice we all have. Will we choose to be more divisive? Will we choose to be peaceful? Will we choose to grow? Will we choose to learn? Will we choose hatred? Will we choose fear?
The choice is yours!

Act silly!
Life is too short and you can’t take everything too serious. Yes, we have serious issues and serious problems but if you can’t act goofy, make fun of yourself, tease a friend or laugh then why are we living! Quality over quantity!!
It’s true inside the gym and outside!

Get The GOAT
Been preparing to open. It brings a mix of emotions. I have almost forgotten how to interact with people. The 6 feet barrier and the barrier of a mask has created a barrier to communicate. We all have barriers, but now they are physical.
When people have the desire to start training or working out they have barriers. It could equipment, it could be knowledge of what to do, it could be time, it could be fear, and the list goes on.
These all feel very similar to the barriers of “opening up” again.
At some point we will all have to interact, talk, spend money, go to stores, and be around others.
Each person is different and will start to come out in their own timing.
Will we be able to break some emotional barriers soon?

Opening
There is no right decision. There is no perfect time. There is no person or gym that can guarantee a “safe” environment.
Our gym provides more than physical fitness. We provide connection in a time of isolation. We understand that “stay at home” affects each of us in a different manner. Some people have family, some have community, but many do not. The gym has become their lifeline, their community and provides a place of hope. Yes, there are mental and physical benefits of exercise, but are the risks worth it?
We don’t know.
We closed the gym before it was mandated by the state. We have tried to be conservative and cautious from the beginning of this crisis. There were many unknowns and there continue to be unknowns. One thing that is not unknown is that we need each other.
We will be opening the gym. The opening will create relief for some and scrutiny from others. Please understand that we are trying to be thoughtful and informed. We have sought advice from local health officials, scientists, other gyms, leaders, clients, and staff to make a decision. We will be taking steps beyond the local guidelines to help everyone understand that we take this serious.
Here is the approach for now, but please know this could change week by week. The Eagle County health providers have given us information to move forward with an opening but could change at any point. I want to be humble and open to changes, discoveries and developing research as we move forward. We could open next week and close the following week.
