We know that in order for us to do an effective job, we must continually earn the community’s trust and must actively engage our residents. Safety and security is everyone’s responsibility – law enforcement and the community working together – staying watchful, being proactive with crime prevention by locking home and vehicle doors, keeping valuables out of sight, knowing one’s neighbors, and not sharing personal or financial information with those you do not know. Most of all, do not hesitate to call 911. If something appears suspicious or out of place, it probably is. Please call 911 – that’s why we’re here for you. This is an ongoing community conversation, and we want everyone to be educated, legal, and SAFE! Our goal is voluntary compliance with the law! Parents, please talk with your children about how to navigate roads and sidewalks lawfully, safely, and respectfully. License requirements, endorsements, and roadway rules apply, including lane-travel violations and negligent or reckless driving. If necessary, our officers will enforce violations and, when appropriate, impound devices the State of WA defines as a "motor vehicle." Failing to stop for law enforcement when signaled is a criminal offense, and if done on a motor vehicle, it can be a misdemeanor under RCW 46.61.022 or a felony under RCW 46.61.024. Help us prevent unnecessary injuries to all!
In case you were wondering red lights are not STOPTIONAL. The City of Edmonds has red light cameras at multiple intersections. Please make sure to come to a complete stop at all red lights. The few seconds lost by stopping may just save you or others from an accident or injury.

July 2026: Public Safety by the Numbers 📊
In July, the Edmonds Police Department responded to 2,544 calls for service, completed 271 case reports, conducted 277 traffic stops, and made 95 arrests.
Officers also investigated collisions, thefts, domestic violence incidents, DUI cases, and other public safety concerns throughout our community.
These statistics provide one snapshot of the work happening each day as our team responds to calls, investigates crimes, supports victims, and works to keep Edmonds safe.

Help us find Ronald Olson. He’s 72 years old and walked away from the 9300 block of 244th ST SW. He’s wearing a UW hat and pull over. Also has a small black and white dog with him.
He has some memory care issues and we need to get him back home.
