Since 2007, we have worked with a clear mission: to unite the continent through university sport, promoting education, human development, and integration among cultures.

What began as a dream has grown into a community of 28 member countries✨

Throughout these 19 years, we have promoted competitions and initiatives that have left a lasting impact on thousands of students, including the FISU America Games, the FISU America 3x3 circuit, educational events, forums, and strategic dialogues that encourage the exchange of experiences and the creation of new opportunities.

We’re proud to announce Leah Shackley as the first recipient of the Female Student-Athlete of the Year award as part of our inaugural Gary Cunningham Award series. Leah delivered a standout performance at the FISU World University Summer Games, winning five gold medals and one silver for USA Swimming.

The Student-Athlete of the Year award honors one female and one male student-athlete who demonstrate exceptional athletic performance during FISU competition — whether at the Summer, Winter, or FISU America Games. This recognition highlights record-breaking achievements, medal-winning efforts, and athletes who exemplify personal growth, competitive excellence, and the pursuit of athletic achievement on the world stage.
