Some of our new moms and the eggs we had to replace with live babies from the feed store. The last couple of years have been a struggle for hatching. When this happens we will buy babies for the hens and put them under them at night, with hopes of a successful adoption. So far, most of our hens have taken to the imposter babies. 😁

Farm Fresh Egg Fact: Why Are Eggshells Different Colors? 🥚

Brown eggs, white eggs, blue eggs, green eggs…Ever wonder why they come in so many beautiful shades?

Eggshell color depends on the breed of the chicken — not the taste, not the nutrition, and not the quality.
That means:

✨ Blue & green eggs = just as delicious
✨ No shell color is “better” than another
They all crack open to the same golden goodness inside.
🐓 Fun Farm Fact:
Chickens with white earlobes usually lay white eggs…
Chickens with red earlobes usually lay brown eggs.
(It’s one of those little farmyard clues most folks never notice!)
