⚡Sunday night’s storms brought a scary reminder of just how powerful Oklahoma weather can be when a home right here in Edmond was struck by lightning. ⚡
Lightning can ignite fires in structures, trees, and grass in an instant. Because these fires can spread incredibly fast, staying weather-aware is our best defense.
Most importantly: If you see smoke or fire after a lightning strike, call 911 right away. Fast reporting helps fire crews respond before a small fire becomes a major one.
Stay safe, Edmond! 🚒🔥

We’ve been hearing this question a LOT lately: “Are fireworks banned in Edmond?”
Thanks to our friends at the Edmond Police Department, we’ve got the official scoop! 🚓👇
Spoiler alert: Even though Oklahoma’s Rockets’ Red Glare Act shook things up in some areas, Edmond’s rules are still in affect within city limits. ALL consumer fireworks—yes, even sparklers, bottle rockets, and those little black snakes—are still a no-go.
☎️ To report violations:
Call the non-emergency dispatch number at 405-359-4338.
Let's keep our community safe and leave the big shows to the professionals this year! 🎆😊

Hey Edmond! 👋 Let’s talk about a skill that saves lives: CPR.
In those critical moments before first responders arrive, knowing CPR can massively increase someone’s chance of survival. It’s a simple skill that anyone can learn, but it makes all the difference when it matters most.
We are incredibly grateful to our partners at American Medical Response - Edmond, OK, who are offering free CPR classes to help keep our community prepared. If you’ve been meaning to learn, this is your sign! Bring a friend, build your confidence, and help keep Edmond safe. 💙🚑
🫀Don’t forget, our monthly (FREE) hands only CPR class is coming up soon!
⛱️Summer time means more outdoor activities, swimming, boating, sports, cookouts, etc. and we want everyone prepared while having a great time! Classes will be held Mitch Park YMCA - YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City

Here is what you need to know to stay safe and legal:

Edmond, the heat index is acting like it’s trying to set a new personal record this week 🥵👇
Your Weekly Heat Mood Board:
Monday— One of the hottest days. The sun has chosen violence. ☀️🌡
Tuesday— Still hot, but at least it’s not Monday-level disrespect.
Wednesday— “Bring backup deodorant” heat.
Thursday — Tied with Monday for hottest day. The heat index is screaming.
Friday— Hot, but more “slow roast” than “instant crisp.” 🍗
We’ve officially entered dashboard-cookie-baking and seatbelt-branding-iron season. AC units deserve a raise.
Survival Tips:
💧Hydrate often
⏰ Limit outdoor time during peak heat
🚗 Check your vehicle before locking
⚠️ Know heat exhaustion signs
Stay cool, Edmond — or at least avoid becoming a cautionary tale 🧊

This year, we proudly celebrate 20 years of Advanced Life Support service at the Edmond Fire Department!
In 2006, nine dedicated members of our department completed paramedic training, launching our Advanced Life Support (ALS) Program and elevating the level of emergency medical care available to the citizens of Edmond. Initially paramedics were assigned to Stations 4 and 5, providing our community with faster access to lifesaving, advanced pre-hospital care when it mattered most.
Since that time, our ALS program has grown tremendously — from 9 paramedics in 2006 to 57 paramedics serving our community today from six stations. Over the past two decades, that commitment to excellence and growth has only strengthened. In 2026, we now have 10 ALS equipped apparatus that can be staffed with paramedics, significantly expanding our ability to deliver rapid, high-quality ALS services across the city.
This milestone is a testament to the vision, dedication, and professionalism of our firefighters and paramedics — past and present — who continue to serve Edmond with compassion, skill, and pride. We also recognize that none of this would be possible without the continued trust and support of our community. Your support allows us to train, grow, and provide the highest level of emergency medical care when it’s needed most.
Here’s to 20 years of continuous improvement, innovation, and unwavering service to our community! 🚑🔥
