Thillana Hindola Practice 🧡

Talam: Aadi

This abhinaiya section is a heartfelt prayer to Lord Kartikeya, whose beloved mount is the peacock. The devotee humbly prays, “Please bless us with your grace, wisdom, and compassion. When will you come to us and shower us with your divine blessings? You are the supreme embodiment of Kartikeya. The moment you hear our sincere prayer and arrive, our hearts are filled with boundless joy.” Grateful to have learned this beautiful thillana from Guru Nish*ta Shah. 🙏🏻

Kalyani Jatiswaram Practice 💛

This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve learned from Guru Smt. Nish*ta Shah. There is so much quiet joy I feel, as I’m sure all dancers experience, in practicing and focusing on the process of improving their art.

To more practice, growth, and improvement 💛

Raagam: Kalyani
Talaam: Rupaka
Choreography: Rukmani Devi Arundale

Soaking in the grace and blessings from my bharatanatyam arangetram from yesterday. So much to say, for now I bow my head to the divine grace that made this happen.

Extremely grateful for this humbling journey. To be honest — I began this journey of learning Bharatanatayam at my most vulnerable stage of my life, 5 months postpartum. I had lost so much physical flexibility. The body I was asking to do this was not the body I remembered post-pregnancy. But I showed up anyway. And what I found was that through this journey — the discipline it demanded, the resilience it built — gave me back something I didn’t even know I had lost. I am so thoroughly, deeply grateful for everything it has taught me.

What made this journey particularly sacred is that it unfolded alongside my spiritual path - every step became a form of seva.

My bharatanatayam guru, Nish*ta ji — you taught me not just the steps but the meaning behind every movement. The bharatanatayam art form that now lives in my body — that is your gift to me and I remain forever grateful to you. 🙏🏻

I am also humbled to have received a citation of excellence, signed by the State of Oklahoma Senator for completing this arangeteram journey in 2.5 years. 🙏🏻

To my husband, thank you for your selfless support throughout this journey, I truly could not have made it to this stage without your support and encouragement. This arangetram belongs to you as much as it belongs to me.

To my daughter, Aanvi, I began this journey at my most vulnerable, and it was that very struggle that taught me resilience. I hope you carry that with you — that whatever it is that you love deeply, you work hard for it, you show up for it, and you dedicate it to something greater than yourself.

To my parents, sister, and my in-laws, thank you all so much for your constant love, encouragement and support in the preparation for this day. Watching you all have tears in your eyes as I poured my heart into the dances pieces, particularly Dashavataram, was a highlight of the night for me. Your presence and support meant the world to me, thank you!

To all aspiring bharatanatayam dancers no matter what stage of life you are on, if I can do it, so can you ❤️

Here's to continuing to share my joy for dance to others on SincerelySwetangi ❤

In gratitude for all the goodness of others that led for this day to happen and for all the lessons I learned in planning & organizing this event. Sending love, joy, light, gratitude to you all ✨
