International Medical Aid Foundation
Not For Profit IMAF further aims to spread awareness about these humanitarian issues through education, charity events, donations, and providing hands on aid.
The International Medical Aid Foundation was created as a non-profit organization to remedy the lack of basic healthcare and medical supplies imposed by poverty and geographic location in the remote, developing regions of the world. IMAF was inspired and started during the course of a trip to these remote regions specifically Nepal and India. Our alliance with the NepalTrust is continuing to move the cause by building medical clinics in the district of Humla, Nepal.

What is the program? In the framework of this program, school children of Humla, in the far northwest of Nepal, are educated in the fields of personal hygiene, diseases, first aid and nutrition. They are trained to become 'little doctors' who spread health awareness among family and friends within their community. Over the years the Nepal Trust has produced more than 370 Little Doctors in several parts of Humla.

Education and literacy rates have been deficient in these remote regions of the Himalayas. In the picture below, a local teacher in a village in Humla, Nepal is shown educating concepts of basic hygiene to the local villagers. Most villagers will go their entire lives without understanding the importance of their washing hands before meals. The power of education even in the most basic concepts can help prevent long term diseases. Get involved or donate by visiting www.imafus.org
