My name is Charmaine and I'm a licensed therapist. My favorite things to talk about are healing, wholeness, purpose, faith, abundance, and intentionality. When I'm not working, I'm reading, watching movies, or spending time with my family.

The wisdom of my mom before lives in me.

The generational trauma of past generations that I strive daily to overcome and surpass.

The hope that I have for your futures also lives inside me.

Everyday, every time that I show up, is fueled by my joy of you both stepping into your callings and purposes.

And I just can’t wait to bear witness.

Thank you for sharing this song with me. It blessed and filled me in ways you can’t yet know.

So, I’ve been off all social media since the start of April as I was doing a corporate 21-day fast. Even before the fast, I was finding myself going on social less and less. My head was getting crowded with a lot of noise. With really long days, I was finding myself feeling less peaceful, and more and more overwhelmed. It appears that burnout was not far off.

During my fast, I was pondering if I wanted to continue engaging with social media, and if so, how. I realized that I do find social media useful as I’ve met and connected with some amazing people who are truly pursuing purpose, faith, and intentional living which aligns with my own vision and kingdom-focused living. But over the last few months, socials gotten darker and opinions focused. A break was truly needed.

Now, I feel the value is worth it but I’ve recognized that my bound have to change. The work that I do daily is crisis-based and I’m also in the process of transitioning my therapy private practice into a full time practice. My capacity and focus has shifted, and such, my use of, the value that I find in, and the value of my time has to, by extension, shift. Therefore, my boundaries must be shifted to align to match my newly identified priorities. I deleted Twitter (nope, not calling it X), and Pinterest; I was never on Tik Tok. I lit how much scrolling I engage in. I relinquished the need to post just to post, and I have not commented on most news cycles. I do miss engagement and will return to posting but posting when it’s meaningful and reflects this newest version of me. My desire is to engage with my 40s, post-cancer, and recovering self with integrity, intentionality, purposefully, and obediently. I do look forward to chronicling this new journey of life.

My only goal for 2025 is simply to live this year with more faith than fear. To simply allow myself to blossom more openly and more authentically this year.

To experience my 40s with grace, skill, faith, abandon, hope, joy, peace, prosperity, love, and purpose.

Reveal all that You have for me, Lord.

I love what I do.

I’m so blessed and grateful to be able to say that. What a gift from God to be used as a vessel to hold space for so many people on a daily basis?!

I’ve wanted to be a therapist since I was age 9. The journey was not easy. I lost count of how many days I quit on the journey because I believed that I didn’t have any more blood, sweat, or tears to give. But, my God, He knew what He was calling me to.

As a fully licensed clinician, I work mostly in crisis and trauma work. I work in 3 main roles.

1. I see clients in my private practice.
2. I do clinical evaluations for patients that come into the emergency department.
3. I also work as a consultant for a third party EAP.

I love that each role is different and requires somewhat different clinical skills. And I especially love that no 2 days are the same. A year and a half ago, I could never imagine no longer working a set 9-5 schedule but I am enjoying this shift.

But most of all, I love holding space for clients and patients. On many a days, I’m interacting with clients on their worst days. As a therapist, it’s a gift to hold space for others and it’s a clear reminder the value of having proper boundaries and having a healthy relationship with rest. Working with extensive trauma and crisis, I’ve found that I have a different relationship with commercialized trauma. By this I mean, I can no longer watch series and movies that I would watch to relax - an example is Law & Order: SVU, for me, self-care was distancing myself from shows like these. I am inherently a child at heart so cartoons is still my go to for relaxation. Other things that I do are:
Take frequent breaks from social media
Exercise
Cook
Go to the movies
Write
Get outside
Pray
Spend time alone

, what are self-care things yall do?
