Yoga is India’s timeless gift to humanity. On June 21, thousands of yoga enthusiasts from across the USA will gather in the heart of New York City to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga. Times Square will once again transform into a giant open-air yoga arena, hosting one of the largest Yoga Day celebrations outside India. The event will be headlined by Padma Shri H. R. Nagendra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s yoga guru and one of India’s most respected yoga scholars.

Organized by the Consulate General of India in New York in partnership with the Times Square Alliance, the celebration is part of the annual “Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga” festival. It will feature yoga and meditation practices guided by the Art of Living Foundation. The event is free to attend, though participants are encouraged to register in advance. Multiple yoga sessions will be held throughout the day, giving visitors the flexibility to choose a time slot and experience yoga amid Times Square’s iconic billboards.

H. R. Nagendra’s participation adds a special dimension to this year’s celebration. A former NASA researcher who later dedicated his life to yoga education and research, Nagendra is credited with helping promote yoga as a science-backed practice for physical and mental well-being. Last year, Anupam Kher, a Bollywood veteran, joined the event, drawing attention from Indian Diaspora and international media.

Previous Yoga celebrations at Times Square welcomed nearly 10,000 participants, making it one of the most visible Yoga Day events outside India. For Indian Americans and visitors alike, the event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate India’s wellness heritage while connecting with a global movement focused on health and mindfulness.

What’s really in your snacks? This includes popular snacks from companies like Hostess, Jell-O, Cheetos and many other household brands.

Listen in on a conversation with experts from Consumer Reports and Yuka to learn more about this project, what our tests found, and what we can do together to get these additives out of our food.

*Please sign this petition to reduce harmful food additives!!*
Consumers should not have to wonder whether everyday foods contain additives at levels that may raise health concerns.

The FDA must do more to protect public health, especially children’s health.
That’s why we are calling for stronger regulation of food additives in the United States, including more transparent safety assessments, regular reassessments based on the latest science, stricter limits for additives of concern, and closing loopholes that allow new substances to enter the food supply without sufficient independent review.
