We finally sat down to eat at Cordon's Taste of Chicago - Restaurant and from the very first step inside, you could tell this place was different.
The atmosphere hit immediately. Chicago memorabilia everywhere—walls telling stories, details everywhere you look. It didn’t feel like a restaurant trying to theme Chicago… it felt like Chicago itself. For a moment, I honestly forgot I was even in the Valley.
Then came the staff—and let me tell you, this is where they really separate themselves. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, genuinely friendly, and it didn’t feel forced. It felt like we were guests, not customers. Like we were invited over to someone’s house for dinner and told, “Sit down, you’re family now.” That kind of service is rare.
Now… the food 😮🔥
The first thing that caught my eye on the menu was the fried mac and cheese. I didn’t even hesitate. And wow—AMAZING. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, packed with flavor. If I’m being completely honest, the portion was a little on the small side—but not even close to enough to take away from how good it was.
Then the pizza arrived.
We ordered an all-pepperoni pizza and another half pepperoni / half “hamburger.” And I’ll admit—normally when I see “hamburger” instead of just calling it beef, I roll my eyes a little. But tonight? Tonight proved me wrong.
Here’s why.
One of the things I’ve always loved about Chili’s Grill & Bar is the crust they get on their burgers. Nobody does it like them. That perfect sear. That flavor. That bite.
Cordon’s somehow pulled off that exact same crust—but on the beef on the pizza. And it was unreal. Rich, savory, perfectly cooked, and it elevated the entire pie to another level. I’m still thinking about it.
Then comes John—the waiter. Hands down, one of the best servers I’ve ever had. Knowledgeable, attentive, genuinely passionate about the food, and just an all-around solid dude.
He starts talking about their fried cheese sticks, casually mentions the cheese pull, and I immediately cut him off with:
“BRING IT OUT. ADD IT TO THE TAB.”
And listen… he was not exaggerating. At all.
The cheese sticks were incredible. Perfect crunch, insane cheese pull, and absolutely worth every bite.
By the end of the night, it was clear—this wasn’t just a good meal. It was a full experience.

Overall, we had an amazing experience at Cordon’s Chicago Style Pizza, and I can say this without hesitation:
I HIGHLY recommend this place.
10 out of 10. No question.
If you haven’t been yet—go.
And if you have? You already know.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loredo’s Tortilleria: A Hidden Gem Serving the Best Breakfast Tacos in the Valley!
Alright, y’all, i know its been a long minute, but this morning I might’ve found the best breakfast tacos of all time — no exaggeration.
I stopped by a small pickup spot called Loredo’s Tortilleria, and from the very first bite, I knew this place was special.
I ordered two tacos:
🌮 Barbacoa – Lean, clean, and ridiculously flavorful. Every bite was packed with that perfect slow-cooked texture without the grease overload you get at other spots. Straight-up 10/10.
🌯 The Border Patrol – Chorizo, egg, potato, bacon, and cheese. Basically all the best parts of breakfast rolled into one glorious tortilla. Every ingredient worked together like a dream. Another 10/10.
And speaking of tortillas — you can tell they’re fresh and homemade. They’re soft, warm, and they elevate the whole experience.
Now, the only downside (if you can even call it that) is there’s no dine-in area. It’s a small pickup-style spot, but honestly, once people start discovering this hidden gem, I could totally see them expanding.
I even got a chance to talk to the owner — super kind, helpful, and clearly passionate about what he does. He answered all my questions, explained the menu in detail, and made sure our order was perfect. That kind of service is rare nowadays.
The vibes were great too — even the people waiting were bragging about the food! One lady said out loud, “Best tacos in the Valley!” And you know what? She was 100% right.
So overall, I’m giving Loredo’s Tortilleria a 9.8/10.
Outstanding food, amazing service, and the kind of local flavor that reminds you why we love the RGV so much.
🔥 Highly recommend. Tell them The RGV Review Guy sent you

My Honest RGV REVIEW:
The Dog Stadium
1402 N Closner Blvd
Edinburg TX 78541
So back in the day me and my momma would always have breakfast on Sundays at a place in Edinburg called “Colimas” and it was our little tradition. Place closed around Covid times, maybe even before, and it’s been businesses here and there so I never paid them any attention. Then I saw a sign that read “The Dog Stadium” and my attention was set! And thank god it did becuase this business and owner are reviving this little Corner Gem in Edinburg TX!
Service:
As soon as we arrived Restaurant owner, Edgar Perales, greeted us at the door with a huge smile and hand shake! We walked in and I was suddenly rushed with a beautiful sense of nostalgia being inside of a building with so many wonderful memories I had with my Momma, may she Rest In Peace. Edgar and his very helpful and friendly staff helped us navigate through their menu. I then asked if they had high chairs for children and without any hesitation the young lady that took our order strung out from the back and got us a high chair for my babyboy! Little details like that mean a lot to customers and I hope they know it doesn’t go unnoticed.
Score: 10 out of 10
Fries:
So I got the opportunity to try all of their fry options and I have to say, they are all amazing! Out of all of them tho I have to say that the “Champ Cheddar Fries” take the crown and remain the champs for a reason! Perfectly fried, perfectly seasoned and the perfect combo of Cheese and Crema!
Score: 9 out of 10
Hotdogs:
I ordered the “Rollie Dog” which comes with Nacho Cheese, House Sauce, and crush up Hot Cheetos. My wife ordered the “Vaquero Dog” which comes with Avacado, Pico, House Sauce, and Bacon bits. The hotdogs were AMAZING! The bun was perfectly buttered, and toasted. Every ingredient tasted amazing and top notch! The dog itself was so fulfilling and THICK! One hotdog is worth more than what they are charging for, and I let the owner know that!
Score: 9.8 out of 10
And last but definitely least, the HIGHLIGHT of the night:
The Fried Elote Bites:
Sweet mother of GAWD!!!! If I could inhale these, I would…TWICE! Beautifully fried Corn Bites dressed in everything you’d love on a street corn PLUS their amazing House Sauce! Now let me tell yall about this House Sauce! I ain’t giving out all the secrets but if you love a flavorful Spicy Mayo then you’re going to fall in love with this House Sauce! I feel like I could add this on anything!
Score:
10 out of 10
(If I could go higher then I would!)
Overall:
I had a very humbling conversation with the owner. We shared life stories, both being Sons Of The Beautiful City Of Edinburg, and I learned a lot about his character. Edgar is a man of the people. He cares more about providing the best possible product over making a profit and after tasting his food, he really isn’t lying. After hearing what he has planned for his business it’s both exciting and comforting to know that this Little Gem Of a Corner is in good hands! The food will speak for itself, the service is EXCEPTIONAL, and the Man running the show is a thorough bread, and I’m placing my bet on him.

Movie: Eggnog, Sugar Cookies and Misery
By Joe Aor Rios
I had the honor and privilege of being one of the first ones to get a early release from Joe Rios first movie on 6 years! And I have to say, he came back onto the scene with a BANG…literally!!!
The breakdown:
Acting: it’s Valley Made Indie film with a low budget so obviously the acting isn’t the best, but that doesn’t mean the actors didn’t do a good job! Everyone looked like they had a blast in this movie!
Score: 7 out of 10
Story: this movie was filled with so many twist and turns that it won’t let you be comfortable at all! Just when you think the storyline is setting in, BOOM! Another twist or turn! That says a lot about the writing and thought that went into this movie.
Score: 9 out of 10
Overall: this movie was a fun watch with a deep underline message. Over all it was Joe Rios first movie back after taking a long break and I like to think it was a success. It’s a Christmas movie like I’ve never seen before and I have a good feeling yall will get a kick out of it.

The Snapper Hole
Boy Oh Boy do I have a review for yall!!! So I had a food truck owner reach out to me about trying out his seafood truck a few days ago. Told him I’d go but I couldn’t guarantee him a review since I only do reviews on foods that blow me away. He accepted the challange and well…here we are. And I have to say, never have I been so happy about being shown up. I know this is a huge statement, but imma say it anyways, I think I hit a goldmine and found the best Fried Fish in the whole VALLEY!!!!!
Service:
This place is owned by a couple. The Mrs. Is a teacher and the Mr. Is a Prior Service United States Marine who now runs and operates this awesome Food Truck! Now this food truck is located at the Nolana Food Park and considering that it’s a little chilly today, these guys had it all covered and even had an awesome space heater to make sure we enjoyed our eating experience. The Owner then explained the process of how he gets only the freshes fish available and goes above and beyond to make sure he chooses Quality over Quantity.
Score: 10 out of 10
Fried Mahi:
Sweet Christ. I wish the picture did it some service but it doesn’t. I’ve tried fried fish from all over. Actually I’ve had fish in every way possible…but this fish…this has to be some of the most fresh, most flavorful, delicious fish I have ever had. Ever!!! The owner brought out the plate and I reminded him “like I said, I can’t guarantee a review (takes a small bite)…..(flavor explosion)….naw your getting a review…my gawd!!!” That was the exact conversation lol.
Score: 10 out of 10!!!!!
Fried Zucchini:
I have never in my life had Zucchini. Not once. And anyone that knows me knows I’m not a veggie eater. Owner said “aw you never had it, then get prepared to start at the top with the best your ever guna have!” And I can see where he gets that confidence cuz that fried zucchini was amazing!!! Perfectly breaded and seasoned to perfection!!!
Score: 10 out of 10!!!!!!
ColeSlaw and Fries:
I’m Not a Coleslaw guy. Never have and probably never will, BUT I did take a buddy of mine and he said he’d try it for me. My buddy warned me he wasn’t a fan of coleslaw but would still do me the favor of trying it out and giving me his opinion…..he killed the entire thing! Lol. He said it was the best he’s ever had. The fries are homemade and perfectly fried and season.
Score: 9 out of 10
Regular Fried Shrimp:
Butterflied jumbo shrimp fried to PERFECTION!!!! Perfect meat to batter ratio and the perfect explanation of “crispy” instead of “crunchy”
Score: 9.5 out of 10
Fried Coconut Crusted Shrimp:
Never had coconut crusted shrimp before and now I’m scared. I’m scared I’ll never see Fried Shrimp the same anymore cuz this was the all star of the whole thing! Sweet mother of gawd it was amazing!!! Sweet and savory and fried to PERFECTION!!! Fried shrimp doesn’t get better than this!
Score: 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall:
This place deserves more attention. Not only because the food deserves it, but because the people making the food are giving more than 100% to make this delicious food and it SHOWS!!! They only serve what’s fresh for that day and the attention to detail shows in every single bite! The owner is a man of the people, he said it himself, “where else are you going to find the kind of food we’re offering at the prices we’re offering?!” From Mahi, to Flounder, to Red Snapper all at an affordable price! Y’all need to do yourselves a favor and come eat here ASAP!!

TACOS MI RANCHITO
1023 West Monte Cristo Rd. Edinburg TX
So I had been looking for new spots to try out but with a 2yr that’s in his full “terrible Twos” era, it’s been a challange. Thankfully my sister came thru and babysat, allowed us to finally try this place, and I have to say….i think I found my new favorite taco spot!!!
The Beans:
I’m not a fan of Charro beans. Never have. My wife on the other hand judges a taqueria based off of the beans and she said she loved them! In her words, “ok…this place already started off good!”
8 out of 10
Lemonade:
homemade and delicious! Not overly sweet and extremely refreshing.
9.5 out of 10
Papa Asada con Bisteak:
One thing I will say is that these people give you everything you pay for and then some! It was PACKED with meat and extremely delicious. Also it was huge. Easy for like 2-3 people.

Tejanos
Address: 3709 E FM 2812, Edinburg TX
So I’d been seeing this place for a while on 2812, north of Edinburg, and was so curious as to what it was all about, well today I found out, and DAMMM!!!!
Let’s start off with the Staff:
Super Friendly! From the second you walk in you are greeted with huge smiles and honestly, when you walk it you get that “arriving at a buddy’s backyard” feel. Smell and everything! Met with one of the owners, told me his history and went into detail with all the items!
Item score: 10/10
Fajita Tacos in Flour Tortilla Combo:
The fajita tasted amazing! That Fajita Asada flavor that you won’t find anywhere around this area! And it was portioned perfectly also! The baked Potatoe was also very good as well. Cheesy, buttery and fluffy. I will say tho, although the fajita tasted amazing, I wouldn’t eat it in a flour tortilla again. Only cuz the corn tortilla was amazing, but more on that here in a second.
Item score: 8.7/10
Carne Asada Tacos in Corn Tortilla Combo:
Now these….AMAZING!!! The tortilla was perfectly crispy yet soft, and the meat….sweet mother of god!!! I knew there was something different about this carne asada meat….it was just so good so I had to ask the owner. He explained that he combines meats to get the perfect combination of flavors and let me tell yall, ITS AMAZING!
Item Score: 10/10
The Tejano Plate:
Smoked Chicken and Short Ribs!
I’ve worked several smoking competition in my career, and I’m thankful that as I worked these competitions I’ve tasted some amazing Smoked Chicken…and I have to say, this chicken is as good as it gets!!! The meat, even the white meat, was extremely juicy and perfectly seasoned! The flavor was so good as well! The short ribs…perfectly tender! So soft yet still had the perfect bite!
Item score: 9.8/10
Overall experience:
I was very surprised. I’ve lived in this area my whole life and eating at this spot made me feel like I was somewhere else out side of Edinburg! The BBQ was awesome and the Tacos were amazing as well! More people need to know about this place! BBQ joints around the Valley, Tejanos are here and I must say, I’m glad I found them early cuz I have a feeling they have an extremely bright future in Valley Dining!

Eski-tequiero
This is one of those places that I would never think to do one of these reviews for. A “corn in a cop place” isn’t something I like to think is worthy of a review…but boy was I WRONG!!!!
Me and my little family went out and about and I mentioned “hey babe, let’s try something out of left field” and that’s when we found Eski-Tequiero, and from the second we walked in to the second we walked out, it was an amazing experience!
Staff: when we walked in the staff greeted us with huge smiles and were extremely friendly and helpful when it came to explaining everything on the menu! Went into every detail on to how everything is made!
Lemonade:
Now this is my zone right here! Anyone that knows me can tell you I love me a good homemade lemonade, and let me just say, this one is probably one of the best I’ve ever had!!!
Traditional Esquite:
One this I really liked about this corn was the char on it! Roasted to perfection and right off the cob! Seasoned perfectly as well!
9.5 out of 10
MiniGordo:
The best Corn In A Cup I’ve ever had. Hands down!!!! The corn was hot and beautifully roasted! It was creamy, and the hot Cheeto dust just took it over the edge. Can’t think of anything wrong with it at all!
10 out of 10!!!!
Flechitas aka Corn Ribs:
Mini Esquites lol, these are amazing cuz they really do feel like eating ribs lol except Street Corn Flavored. These are awesome and I’ll totally be having these again!
9 out of 10
And last but not least!!!!
Eski-Pan Prep:
Corn Bread on STEROIDS!!! Imagine a cross between Corn Bread and a Tres Leches Cake! Naw yall…yall ain’t ready for this! Almost made a tear come to my eye! lol. No but really, the most delicious Corn Bread I’ve ever had, plus add that Tres Leches Elements PLUS STRAWBERRIES CON CREMA!! CALLATE CHUT’UP!!

Over all we had an amazing experience, cannot wait to go back!
