Eyes fixed on Jesus, life fixed on the Word. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author & perfecter of our faith (Heb12:2).

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path (Ps119:105).

I was struck by this in Gen 6:22 today. “So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.”

It launched me into some self-reflection as I’m trying to apply the Bible to my life & not just read it to check off a reading list.

I started to wonder what could be said of me in this regard. Sadly, what I came up with was “Lisa did some of the things in kind of the way at some of the times God commanded her.“ That’s not what I want it to say…not the spiritual legacy I’d like to leave.

How about you? Here are some questions for self-evaluation:
- What would this verse say about you?
- Are you happy with what it would say?
- What could you start doing to change the trajectory of your legacy if obedience to God’s commands?

Praying for all of us to grow in our faithfulness in honoring God’s commands. It’s time to grow up and mature 🙏🏼

I recently bought myself a new NLT Inspire Praise Bible by Tyndale.
Am I the greatest artist? No.
Do I have the best supplies? No.
Am I loving it? YES!
I’m a fan of color and color coding so this gives me a chance to slow down, get creative, and really meditate on God’s Word.
Plus it has an accompanying app called filament that is blowing my mind with all the extra Bible study resources and it’s free.
Here’s a link to the filament Bibles if you’re interested. They’ve got lots of versions!

You've heard of walk the talk but today I encourage you to TALK THE WALK! Every day you use thousands of words. Those words have creative power in your life and in the lives of the people around you. This is true in the words you use with others, but it's nowhere more true than in the area of self-talk. The words you speak to yourself, about yourself, about your life, are shaping and crafting the path to your destiny in more powerful ways than you dare to imagine. If you only knew and believed the power you have! Use your talk wisely. Every word is like a step taking you closer to the destiny you desire, or taking you further away from it. I can tell you some types of words guaranteed to take you down the unwanted path: negativity, criticism, unforgiveness, guilt, shame, condemnation, judgment, stuck in the past, just to name a few. Makes sense that words better able to move you forward are positive and motivating, uplifting and edifying, forgiving and gracious. That applies to others-talk and self-talk!

You should know: I'm not referring to toxic positivity where you're living in denial or not being authentic with your struggles or pain. I'm also not talking about a flippant name it and claim it type of theology. I'm talking about living in reality (both positive and negative) but charting a different course for your journey. You don't have control over everything, but in this thing you hold infinite power to be master over your words and your destiny.

You may want to print this sheet out and start tracking the words you use to see where they're really leading you...closer to the dream or further away?

Who am I and what is my purpose? These are two of the biggest existential questions people have. Grab hold of this identity statement and make it your own! Read it, write it, rehearse it, meditate on it. Eventually it will sink down into your soul, and you will believe it with your whole being. Nailing down your identity has huge implications and creates potential for unleashing freedom and the abundant life you were created for.

A SAD DAY AT HOBBY LOBBY 10/25/2021

A SAD DAY AT HOBBY LOBBY Sadness and Hobby Lobby are two things that definitely don’t belong together. I mean, Hobby Lobby trips are fun, an adventure, something to relish, to look forward to, to enjoy. It means you’re working on a project, and just like Cher in Clueless, I love me a good project. “Ooh! Project!” Bu...

BROKEN WINGS 07/15/2021

BROKEN WINGS
I’m a teenager of the 80s. And since I love the music of the 80s, I thought I’d use some of the great songs of the decade for devotional inspiration.

This morning in my devotional time, I kept coming across the idea of wings and flying. I thought about the great old hymn, “I’ll Fly Away,” which was always so fun to sing, especially if you added that syncopated hand-clapping, foot-stomping action to it. I thought about some Bible verses that speak of wings and flying. And somewhere in that whole process I thought of this song. I decided the time was right to launch the series, so enjoy the first submission of I

BROKEN WINGS I’m a teenager of the 80s. And since I love the music of the 80s, I thought I’d use some of the great songs of the decade for devotional inspiration. Raise your hand if you know God can speak in a whole lot of ways, through a whole lot of different avenues (even a donkey). So, can we make a deal...

SHAME IS NOT MY NAME 07/13/2021

SHAME IS NOT MY NAME Yesterday at church, we sang one of my favorite songs, “Holy Spirit” by Jesus Culture. The whole song is powerful and touching, but something special happened yesterday as we sang the second verse. I saw our deaf interpreter Mario sign the phrase “where my shame is undone” and it became a go...
