River Ratz Bassmasters is a friendly bass fishing club based in Harford County, Maryland. Each year, One of the chapter clubs of the MBN, founded in 1993.
Eight club tournaments are held annually in the Upper Bay Rivers, some Eastern Shore Rivers, Conowingo Lake and the Potomac River. The Ratz hosts Open Tournaments twice a year, and sends a member to the Mr. Bass Tournament each year.

Another tough day was had for the Ratz as they fished the Gunpowder River out of Mariner Pt. On this day, out of the 6 boats and 10 anglers who participated in this 3rd tnx of the season, no one came in with a limit! The water temperature increased about 10 degrees during the week warming the water to the upper 70s! The day was breezy out of the southwest, with temperatures topping out at 90 degrees. In the end, Kevin Beaudean, takes the dub with an 8.03-lb, three fish stringer. Mark Silvia earns the lunker bucks and 2nd place with a 3.02-lb LMB, while Paul Badders settles for a 3rd place finish!
The Ratz will be meeting at Mariner Pt this Saturday to fish their 3rd tnx of the season on the "Lower Bay". All boats be in the water by 5am ready to launch at 5:30am. Weigh-in at 2:30! The launch order will be:

The Ratz had a tough day fishing out of Tydings today as 6 boats and 10 anglers braved the high northerly winds at 15 to 18 mph, gusting to over 25 mph! The temps during this sunny day were in the 60’s with the water temps around 67 degrees. Only 2 limits were brought to the scale. Kevin Maccallini takes the dub as he topped the scales with a 11.66-lb sack. Ken Eng follows with a one-pound deficit, earning second place for the day. Larry Kunkel rounds the standings with an 8.15-lb string, anchored by the 3.33-lb tnx lunker.
The Ratz will be fishing their 2nd tnx of the season this Saturday launching out of Tydings. All boats be in the water by 5am to blast off at 5:30am. Weigh-in at 2:30! The launch order will be:

The Ratz had their first club tournament of the 2026 season on the Upper Bay on a cloudy day easterly winds 15 to 20 mph, and temperatures in the mid-50s. The water temps were around 60 degrees. Out of 7 boats and 11 anglers, 7 limits were brought to the weigh-in. In this tournament, the co-anglers dominated as Dom Grossi starts the season off right, getting it done with a 15.97-lb sack, anchored by a 5.22 LMB, also earning tnx lunker. Kevin Maccallini takes 2nd place a half-pound behind the leader! Dom’s boater, Paul Badders, showed a 3rd place effort!
The Ratz will be fishing their season opener this Saturday out of Tydings. All boats be in the water by 5:45am to launch at safelight. Weigh-in at 2:30pm. The launch order will be:

The Ratz thanks all who came out to fish our Spring Open. We had a great turnout of 32 teams on a day that started with a fog delay, but became a beautiful day with winds 10 to 15 mph out of the North and highs in the upper 60s. We paid 5 places today, and 4 of them were stacked within a pound! Team Nave-Heivly gets it done with a massive sack tipping the scale at 28.01 pounds. Second place honors goes to Team Vanore-Duarte who brought in 24.41-lbs anchored by the tnx lunker weighing 7.66-lbs! Team Kahill-Harrant earns 3rd place with 23.84-lbs. In fourth place, the father-son team, Team Rea-Rea, brought 23.58-lbs to the scale with the junior Rea hauling in their 6.59 # lunker! Rounding the standings is Team Sirochman-Pawnall with a 23.21 # string good enough for the 5th place cash!
Our Fall Open Tnx with be on November 7th! We hope to see you all again later this year!!!

The Ratz had their awards banquet last night at Bacco's Italian Restaurant. Congratulations to Paul Badders for an amazing 2025 season! He earned all 3 awards: Mr. Bass, Lunker, and Heavy stringer, as well as, setting the record for heavy stringer, and having a perfect 40 bass creel and the heaviest overall weight in club history at 114-pounds! The rest of us just had a great dinner!!! 😂
