I started adding the floorwork warmup exercise into classes about a month ago and I’m loving how it wakes their brains up and gets them ready to work with the floor.

Next step is working on stability and clarity of each position that we work through!

I’ve been using this one leg improv exercise to transition out of the warm up portion of technique class. It’s a fantastic way to get in some strength training, on-center /off-center work, pathway exploration, coordination, and decision-making training all in one.

I love it because it works great for mixed level classes (like the one shown), and covers multiple movement and training goals🤍

This dancers are always ready with a WARM body and alert brain afterwards!

As much as I talk about what should be happening in contemporary classes from a training perspective, I ALSO believe in testing the lessons through combos the kids enjoy.

I love when the dance babies come home from school and I get to watch all of their new information and training layered on top of my foundation🤍
