A: I wish more people understood how foundational the consultation is at Growth and Grit Salon. When I opened in 2020, I didn’t know exactly what the salon would become. What I did know was that I wanted a more personal and intentional approach. Over time, I learned through conversations with guests that many people weren’t being asked deeper questions about their hair. Many had never experienced a stylist asking what they truly wanted, why they wanted it, or how their lifestyle played into their goals.

When a guest sits in my chair, my priority is to understand their day-to-day life, their needs, their maintenance preferences, and how they want to feel. These questions are never about judgment. They help me make decisions that will support their confidence and make their hair work for them.

During every service, especially while blow drying and styling, I walk guests through what I’m doing and why. I want them to feel empowered to recreate their look at home. My goal is for every guest to leave not just looking great, but feeling confident and capable.
