Triple-S Auto Detail

Had a great time last weekend at the Tri-State Auto Exhibit. Me, my friends and my 'Ol '55 spent some quality time. Now its time to get back to the '40 Coupe cut & buff project. Schedule starting to book up! Call me for your detailing and paint correction needs.

PROJECT '40 COUPE + a little touch up on a '40 Sedan! Today was all the intricate details on the passenger side of the coupe. Window frames, body contour, the trunk jambs, etc. Then bonus! Worked out a little garage scuff on the fender of a friend's '40 2dr Sedan. Next weekend I'll be taking a break for Tri State Auto Exhibition. PROJECT '40 COUPE UPDATE: This weekend we concentrated on the A-pillars, cowel & firewall. Tight spaces and a lot of intricate contours & detail that add time to the job & require patience. Turned out very well, I think. Comment below and tell me what you think.

Moving on to the passenger side. Fender, door and quarter panel.

Progress is being made on the '40 Ford Coupe, albeit slow. But boy is she lookin' pretty! Since I came in the picture I have wet sanded 2000, 2500 & 3000 grit and now buffing. Started with Meguiars M100 on "Big Bertha" the Skill rotary buffer & wool pad. Then M110 with both 3" & 6" microfiber pads on the Dual Action buffers.

Back to work on the '40 Ford Coupe project. Credit due the owner for the paint job. Got a first pass done over the roof and down to the deck lid. A lot more work yet remaining. We'll take it back up next weekend. That color really pops! Can't wait to see it in the sunshine!

So I'm old, I guess. What do I know about cars made after about 1972? Well, apparently the '98 Firebird today has some pedigree. It's a Trans Am WS-6 Performance Package! At any rate, I am no longer calling it paint correction. Let's say paint improvement instead. It was showing a little age. But I think it turned out well and the owner seemed pleased so 6hrs was worth every minute. Next weekend I should be back on the '40 Ford project.

This is my project today. A '98 Pontiac Firebird drop top, black on black. It looks pretty shiny but a closer look reveals spider webbing and micro-marring in the clear coat. I'm going to fix that. Later, we'll also get some touch-up paint made up and fix a few minor "details". But today is Stage-1 buff & polish. I'd be honored if you could follow my page!
