Intrastate Mutual Aid Plan 07/29/2021

A timely reminder from the MSFCA and the MNSFM.

Minnesota Intrastate Mutual Aid Plan
The Minnesota Intrastate Mutual Aid Plan provides local fire chiefs easy access to large quantities of fire service resources during a major fire, disaster or other emergency. With the increase of civil unrest and potential for wildfires, State Fire Marshal Division (SFMD) staff felt it was important to remind departments of this plan.

When to activate the Intrastate Mutual Aid Plan
• When beyond the resource capabilities of local response organizations, including local mutual aid resources.
• When multiple or a single significant major event/s occurring that exceed local resources.

How to activate the Intrastate Mutual Aid Plan
• Contact the Minnesota State Duty Officer at 800-422-0798.
• SFMD staff will help coordinate, along with the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association, any fire resources needed.

Learn more about the Intrastate Mutual Aid plan at msfca.org/mutual_aid.

Other services
The SFMD can also help with staging functions and assist local incident commanders with large-scale incidents. The SFMD will not take over an incident, but can provide critical resources and guidance. See our staging information sheet for more information.
