Congratulations on the award Erickson Engineering!!

Winona County Bridge 85579 has been selected as a winner of the 2023 MnDOT-AGC Bridge Construction Award in the under-$1.5 million construction cost category. The bridge was designed by Erickson Engineering and built by Icon Constructors, Inc. It is located on CSAH 7 crossing over Big Trout Creek in Pickwick, MN, and consists of a single-span PCB structure with a total length of 90 ft and clear width of 28 ft.

Erickson Engineering's services included hydraulic analysis; geotechnical, wetland, and utility coordination; permits; preliminary and final bridge and approach roadway design; specifications; and cost estimate.

David Clemens, Director of Engineered Product Sales for Wheeler, will be presenting a webinar for the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA) "Short Span Steel Bridges: Learning by Example" webinar series. The webinar, Forest Service Project - Northern Wisconsin, will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM ET.

This webinar is part of a free, four-part series to be held August 8, 10, 15 and 17. The series is being held in partnership with the University of Wyoming.

This series is recommended for bridge owners, designers, faculty, students, and anyone else with an interest in learning about innovative solutions to meet the increasing demands placed on our nation’s infrastructure.

SSSBA Launches "Short Span Steel Bridges: Learning by Example" Webinar Series - Build Using Steel For more than 80 years, the steel industry has maintained a construction codes and standards program through the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) to address the regulations and laws governing the entire construction market.

Wheeler continues to focus on safety and emergency protocols across all locations. Our Whitewood, SD location held a full-scale emergency planning exercise in conjunction with Lawrence County Emergency Management on Saturday April 30th. This exercise, totaling approximately 100 people, involved Wheeler employees, first responders from three counties, and the RCP&E Railroad. Participating organizations included volunteer fire fighters, ambulance service, Lawrence County Dispatch, Life Flight, Civil Air Patrol, National Weather Service, South Dakota Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Spearfish and Sturgis hospitals, and local governments including Whitewood, Spearfish, Sturgis, and Deadwood. The exercise was a great success, and our employees did a fantastic job implementing our response plan. These training exercises are extremely important for learning and improving our emergency plans and procedures.

A bridge designed by Erickson Engineering in Lyon County, MN has been selected as a winner by MnDOT/MnDOT State Aid in the category for bridges with a construction cost less than $1.5 million dollars.

The bridge received high marks for innovation, complexity, timeliness, workmanship, and of course for it’s beauty.

This is the third consecutive year they have won an award.
