Your MRI found a rotator cuff tear.
Great.
So did this study…in a whole bunch of people who had absolutely no shoulder pain.
Researchers reviewed 53 studies looking at asymptomatic shoulders and found rotator cuff abnormalities such as tears, both full and partial, calcifications and tendonopathy everywhere!
Some studies found abnormalities in nearly every shoulder they looked at.
And yet those people weren’t seeking treatment or complaining of pain.
In fact many didn’t even know the findings existed.
This is why we have to stop treating imaging reports like sentences.
Imaging can tell us what’s there.
It can’t tell us what’s hurting.
As therapists, our job isn’t to chase every wrinkle, tear, or degeneration that shows up on an MRI.
Our job is to find what actually reproduces the patient’s symptoms, changes their function, and responds to treatment.
The image is part of the story.
The patient is the story.
Respect tissue.
Don’t worship imaging.

Chronic pain isn’t always a tissue problem.
Sometimes it’s a nervous system problem.
A few weeks ago, a family member came to me with chronic elbow pain that had been hanging around long enough that she was starting to explore more invasive treatment options. She was skeptical of RAPID NeuroFascial Reset® and honestly wasn’t convinced that education about the nervous system had much to do with her pain.
So we talked.
We talked about how pain is a protective output from the brain and nervous system. How the body can become very good at producing pain long after an injury has healed. How sensitivity, guarding, and learned protective patterns can keep someone stuck in a cycle of pain.
Then we got to work.
Three 20-minute sessions later, the pain that had been disrupting her life was gone.
Not because I “fixed” her elbow.
Not because I released scar tissue, broke up adhesions, or performed some miracle.
We helped her nervous system recognize that the threat was no longer there.
That’s the part of pain science that fascinates me.
When people understand what’s happening in their body and combine that understanding with the right treatment approach, sometimes the results can be life-changing.
If you’ve been dealing with pain that won’t go away, despite rest, stretching, medications, or other treatments, there may be another piece of the puzzle worth exploring.
If you’d like to learn more about the nervous system, chronic pain, and how RAPID works, keep an eye out for information about my upcoming educational event.
And if you’re ready to experience it for yourself, I’d love to help.

Now it feels real! We officially have a date for “The Nervous System & Chronic Pain” - a community educational event hosted by yours truly. Join us September 3rd from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Eaton Rapids District Area Library for an engaging presentation on what role our nervous system plays with how we perceive pain, and some free RAPID demos! There will be a sign up sheet on the library’s website as things get closer. Registration is limited to 20 guests at this time. I’ll provide the link as soon as it’s available!
A quick update on “The Nervous System & Chronic Pain” - a community event I’ve been trying to plan and set into motion. I’m excited to let you all know I’ve finished my presentation with lots of great educational and engaging material. Now I just need to hear from you guys about what setting you’d like to learn this stuff in? I’ll need room for 10-15 attendees, a massage table space, and a projector. Drop the ideas in the comments! ♥️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ RAPID client review
She told me a story about her friend that also saw me after being referred saying she’s like a whole different person! It’s amazing the difference of getting out of pain can make for quality of life and your outlook in general. This is why I specialize in RAPID. ♥️
This week is pretty full I have time Tuesday morning for RAPID. If that doesn’t work for you, check next week for an appointment.

Stellar performance today from the elevate gymnastics crew! Allison did wonderful during both shows. She did the robot 🤖 at the end of the 6 pm finale and had us cracking up 😂 and yes, I’m that parent you can hear in the whole auditorium yelling and clapping every time she nails a skill she was nervous about or they take the stage to preform 😊 📣 GO ALLI!! 🤸♀️
My kids have the advantage. Sometimes that means a mom that gives them a few J hooks and tells them to walk it off. When they get hurt playing or doing the sports that make them happy, they know the recovery will be swift. RAPID moms are a different breed, no boo boo kissing here. We’re not the same 🤷🏼♀️ Have an athlete that needs a speedy recovery? Book RAPID to get started.
