California landscapes of sorts, SFO and Bay Area, May 2026

I spent a week recently in northern CA, staying with my dear sister-in-law and exploring various parts of the Bay Area.

The Lands End Lookout (a National Park) is one of my favorite spots (slides 1-3) for its rugged coastal beauty and I’m so glad I could see it again after several years.

I also played around using my rental car’s window, sunroof, side mirrors and windshield as framing devices (slides 5-8) which was kind of fun!

I enjoyed walking around neighborhoods and finding moments to compose (slides 9-10).

California - always interesting and worthwhile! ☀️

I’m absolutely thrilled to be one of ten finalists in the B&W category of the Lucie Foundation’s upcoming juried show, “On the Block”. The other three categories in the competition are Candid/Community, Portraits, and Still Life/Landscape.

It is a true honor to have my work seen and selected by the three incredible jurors—Paris Chong, Arturo Soto, and Matt Stuart—and to be among 40 outstanding international photographers.

“This exhibit celebrates the unposed, unfiltered, and fleeting moments that define the art of documenting everyday life, whether in dense urban streets or sleepy rural towns, where stories unfold in the open and every corner hides unexpected beauty. From street photography to urban landscape, this juried exhibit showcases images that reveal the quiet truths and vivid stories concealed beneath everyday moments.”
