Mushroom Wisdom
A Global Leader in Mushroom Dietary Supplements including; Maitake D-Fraction and SX-Fraction, Lion's For more than 30 years Mushroom Wisdom, Inc.
(MWI) has continuously developed and produced the finest research supported mushroom products. While mushrooms have been used traditionally for thousands of years, Mushroom Wisdom actually began in 1991, as Maitake Products, Inc., with the goal of bringing the health and immune supporting benefits of the, at the time, relatively unknown Maitake mushroom to the U.S. *
The original and only product that was offered was Grifron® Maitake, a simple, straightforward whole Maitake mushroom powder that offered a full range of Maitake’s actions. As researchers further explored this promising mushroom they found it contained a potent, unique beta glucan that was orally effective for supporting healthy immune function.* This became known as D-fraction. Maitake D-Fraction® PRO 4X, the company’s flagship product, is now available in a quick and easy “spray” form. Maitake D-Fraction “EZ” Spray is convenient for “on-the-go” administration. Further research on the Maitake mushroom led to discoveries related to its promising actions for supporting healthy blood sugar and insulin functions.* As a result of these studies the SX-fraction was born. After 10 years of being a “one mushroom” company we introduced a line of single mushrooms, all “super” enhanced by high quality mushroom fruiting body and unique mushroom extracts. This “Super” mushroom line includes Agaricus, Chaga, Coriolus, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Meshima, Reishi, Shiitake and Tremella. MWI recently introduced Super Poria, based on their research of this mushroom and unique mushroom extract. By 2010 the company acknowledged its role as a leader in the mushroom category by changing its name to, Mushroom Wisdom Inc., to better reflect its diversity of products. By embracing the word “wisdom” as part of its new company name, MWI honors the thousands of years of traditional use of these mushrooms, while also emphasizing its industry leading commitment to furthering our knowledge and understanding with scientific research. As an industry and category leader, MWI is committed to offering the safest and most effective mushroom and mushroom extract supplements. MWI has developed proprietary extractions of several mushrooms to further enhance their beneficial actions. MWI has supported and continues to support investigations into the wondrous world of mushrooms at respected research institutions, such as Georgetown University, New York Medical College, and Shizuoka University in Japan as well as by renown researchers such as Harry Preuss, MD, Sensuke Konno, PhD, and Hirokazu Kawagishi, PhD. All MWI products are manufactured in a cGMP facility in the U.S with all mushroom materials verified for identity. Having celebrated their first 25 years in business last year, Mushroom Wisdom is looking forward to another 25 outstanding years offering you the finest mushroom supplements grounded in tradition, expanded by research.

THE BEAUTY MUSHROOM BEHIND THE LEGEND
Long before snail mucin and bio-fermented everything, there was tremella.
Legend holds that Yang Gui Fei, one of the Four Great Beauties of ancient China and a favored consort during the Tang Dynasty, kept this pale, gelatinous fungus at the center of her beauty ritual. Grown on hardwood bark and prized in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries, tremella earned its nickname, "the beauty mushroom," long before modern skincare caught up.
So what did Yang Gui Fei actually have working in her favor? More than folklore, as it turns out.
CONFIRMED ACTIONS
Hydration and barrier support. Tremella's polysaccharides form a thin, moisture-holding film on the skin's surface, helping limit water loss and enhance the barrier. The extract's polysaccharides and fatty acids create a microscopic film that improves the skin barrier's impermeability. Some research points to its smaller molecular structure letting it settle closer to the surface than similar humectants. Its molecular weight runs lower than hyaluronic acid, which lets it reach slightly deeper into the skin's outer layer and hold water there. *
Antioxidant activity. Lab studies on Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide (TFP) show it helps protect human skin cells from oxidative stress, including damage from hydrogen peroxide exposure, largely by supporting the cell's own defense pathways. TFP has been shown to exhibit potent anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging effects. *
Immune-supportive activity. Tremella's polysaccharides sit among a broader group of biological actions researchers have documented for this mushroom. Studies have found positive effects across antioxidation, antitumor, antidiabetic, immunomodulatory, and neuroprotective pathways, most of it so far from lab and animal models rather than large human trials.*
The science is still catching up to a thousand-year-old instinct, but it's catching up in the right direction.

Agaricus blazei: The "Mushroom of the Sun"
Long before it appeared in supplement aisles, Agaricus blazei was growing wild in the hills outside Piedade, a small town in São Paulo, Brazil, where local farmers had prized it for generations. They called it Cogumelo do Sol, the mushroom of the sun, for the way it thrived under the region's intense sunlight and warm, humid climate.
In the 1960s, Japanese researchers studying the exceptionally good health and long lifespans in Piedade traced part of the story back to this humble farm mushroom. They brought it home, gave it the name Himematsutake, and began decades of scientific study into its polysaccharide content, particularly its rich concentration of beta-glucans. Today it's sometimes called Royal Sun Agaricus, and true to its name, it has a mild, sweet, almond-like aroma that sets it apart from other medicinal mushrooms.*
Modern research has focused largely on Agaricus blazei's beta-glucan and beta-glucan protein complexes, which are believed to interact with the body's immune cells. That research is part of why this mushroom has earned a place alongside Reishi, Maitake, and Turkey Tail in traditional and modern wellness practices.*
A few things Agaricus blazei brings to the table:
• Supports healthy immune function*
• Provides antioxidant support*
• Helps maintain healthy cellular function*
• Supports overall wellness and vitality*
From a small farming town in Brazil to research labs in Japan and now your wellness routine, Agaricus blazei's journey is a good reminder that some of nature's most powerful allies grow quietly in plain sight.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.
Our thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones, with the first responders who ran toward danger, and with the countless people who stepped forward in the days, months, and years that followed to rescue, rebuild, care, and heal.
In nature, even in the darkest places, life finds ways to connect and endure. Beneath the forest floor, fungal networks quietly support the life around them - an unseen reminder of how much strength can exist in connection.
In the aftermath of unimaginable loss, we witnessed that same extraordinary strength in one another: strangers helping strangers, communities holding one another up, and people choosing courage, compassion, and service.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost. We honor those who served and sacrificed. And we hold close the enduring power of connection, compassion, and care for one another.
We remember. 🤍

MAITAKE 101
Meet Maitake—known for its delicate, frilly clusters and deep, savory umami.
Its unique shape brings plenty of texture to every bite, while its naturally rich flavor makes it a delicious addition to simple, everyday dishes.
Maitake also crisps beautifully over high heat, making it perfect for sautéing, roasting, grilling, or frying. The edges turn golden and crisp while the inside stays tender.
Today, we’re pairing golden-browned Maitake with buttery, toasted raisin bread for a simple dish packed with texture and flavor.
Ingredients:
1 pack of Hokto Kinoko Maitake mushrooms
Raisin bread, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
Fresh rosemary, to taste
A pinch of salt
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. Cut the raisin bread into bite-sized pieces. Separate the Maitake mushrooms into bite-sized clusters by hand. Thinly slice the garlic.
2. Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over low heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant.
3. Add the bread and Maitake mushrooms. Increase the heat to medium and cook until the mushrooms are golden brown and the bread is lightly toasted, turning as little as possible to allow the mushrooms and bread to brown.
4. Add the rosemary and season with a pinch of salt. Transfer to a serving plate and finish with freshly ground black pepper.
A simple way to let Maitake shine.
