I made an adapter that lets you connect MIDI instruments to a Wii and map buttons to notes. Leave a comment if you have any questions!
The guitar in this video is the AeroBand Smart Guitar. Since it can provide USB MIDI output, it was perfect for this project. It has real strings for the picking hand, so the game could be controlled by strumming like a real guitar.

I got to beta test the upcoming update to the Gamma mini synth from . There are a lot of awesome features coming, but MIDI In is definitely a game changer.
In this video, I have a MIDI sequence being sent to the Gamma from Ableton to the "chord" channel. Then, I'm playing the melody live on the "note" channel. All of the audio is being captured via line out and recorded through an audio interface. The drums are a separate audio track, and not coming from the Gamma.

sent us their ‘screen free tablet’ to try out. Now that we’ve spent a bit of time with it, here’s what I think so far!
First, some background. I met the Boppo team earlier this year at Toy Fair. They are a small business based in the US, and the co-creators are an Engineer + Product Designer duo who met while working at Google. They worked together to invent this as a toy for their own children.
As for Boppo itself, it is a tablet with 40+ activities which are interacted with through sounds, lights, and buttons. There are optional “Toppo” add-on accessories which unlock more activities that utilize button artwork.
There is a parental app for managing settings, but it is NOT a part of the play experience. Furthermore, there is NO SUBSCRIPTION and all of the apps/activities are free.
Even though I immediately thought this was a cool concept, I’ve been really impressed by the amount of daily play it’s been getting.To be honest, I wasn’t sure how long we would be entertained simply by light up buttons, but the fact that this was developed by parents and playtested on actual kids is really obvious. The activities have a great range from ones with structure to ones that are very open ended, and there are even some competitive games as well.
