It all starts with a Continuous CyberSCORE - our proprietary in-depth analysis of your organization’s IT infrastructure. Your CyberSCORE will reveal strengths and weaknesses in your IT and how well it is working for you today. We measure these results against our Disciplines of Technology Health - a set of parameters we have developed over more than 20 years to determine a health score for the var
In healthcare, strong controls aren’t just about compliance.
They’re about protecting people.
Every day, organizations handle highly sensitive patient information. Locking down controls ensures that data stays secure, accurate, and available when it matters most.
Effective controls in healthcare help:
- Safeguard patient privacy
- Reduce risk of breaches and disruptions
- Meet regulatory requirements (HIPAA and beyond)
- Strengthen trust with patients and communities
But “locking down” doesn’t mean creating barriers...it means building smarter systems:
- Role-based access to limit unnecessary exposure
- Regular audits and monitoring to catch issues early
- Strong authentication and identity management
- Ongoing staff training to reduce human risk
In a field where trust is everything, security isn’t optional—it’s foundational to care delivery.

Keeping patient data safe doesn’t have to be complicated...but it does have to be consistent.
A few simple habits, like controlling access, encrypting data, and staying aware, go a long way in protecting ePHI.
Take a quick swipe for 3 ways to level up your security.
Tech Tip Tuesday: Your IT Team Might Not Know HIPAA as Well as You Think
Just because you have an IT team in place doesn’t mean your organization is fully HIPAA compliant.
Many IT professionals are experts in infrastructure, cybersecurity, and support—but HIPAA has very specific requirements that go beyond general IT knowledge.
Here’s where gaps often happen:
- Access controls may not be configured to meet minimum necessary standards
- Audit logs might not be reviewed consistently
- Data backups may exist—but aren’t tested or secured properly
- Vendors and tools may be implemented without proper Business Associate Agreements (BAAs)
- Policies & procedures may not align with technical safeguards
IT supports compliance...but it doesn’t replace it. HIPAA requires coordination between compliance, security, and IT teams.

Compliance doesn't have an end date. The organizations that get through audits clean are the ones that stay ready year-round. All three of these areas should already be in place. If any one of them isn't, that's where you start today.

A cyberattack happens every 39 seconds. The weakest link isn't your software. It's the human behind the screen. Train them like your business depends on it. Because it does.
Ross Brouse and Kailey Jordan will be at the New York State Health Facilities Association Annual Conference this week! Come visit us at Booth #36.
With ongoing HIPAA enforcement changes, compliance has never been more important for long-term care organizations looking to stay secure and audit-ready. We’d love to connect with anyone interested in learning more.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Ross, who will be speaking during the Liability Lives on the Floor panel.
We’re looking forward to connecting and discussing how long-term care organizations can strengthen their compliance programs, reduce risk, and stay ahead of evolving requirements.

Cyber threats are evolving fast, but your strongest defense is still your people. The good news? You don’t need a massive budget to build a security-first culture. Start with these three impactful actions:
Tech Tip Tuesday: Protecting ePHI 🖥️
ePHI isn’t just sensitive data...it’s a primary target. One overlooked gap can lead to exposure, regulatory penalties, and loss of patient trust.
Limit Access to What’s Necessary
- Use role-based access to ensure only the right people can view ePHI. The more access you allow, the greater the risk.
Encrypt Data at All Times
- ePHI should always be protected—whether it’s stored or transmitted. Encryption ensures that even if data is intercepted, it can’t be used.
Continuously Review Where ePHI Lives
- Data spreads across systems, tools, and workflows. Regularly audit where ePHI is stored and how it’s handled to catch risks early.
Protecting ePHI is not just about meeting requirements, it’s about reducing real exposure and maintaining trust where it matters most.

We had an amazing time at the Ohio Health Care Association Annual Conference!
Everyone we met was fantastic, and we truly appreciated the opportunity to connect. We had so many meaningful, in-depth conversations about the new HIPAA enforcement change - what they mean, how they’re impacting, and what organizations and their vendors should be thinking about moving forward.
It was a great chance to raise awareness, share perspectives, and most importantly, let people know we’re here to support. We’re committed to helping navigate these changes with confidence every step of the way.
Thanks again, 2026!
