Catholic Sentinel
The Catholic Sentinel, the oldest Catholic newspaper on the West Coast, is the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Portland.
We work to evangelize, inspire and catechize in a culture that stands in need of the Gospel. Through story and encounter, we seek to help people love God and love others. The Catholic Sentinel is published twice monthly by Oregon Catholic Press and is the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Portland. WHERE DO I FIND LOCAL CATHOLIC NEWS NOW?
With the Oct. 1 closure of the Catholic Sentinel as well as its website, western Oregon Catholics will need to look elsewhere for local church news.
Stay up to date on news of how the local church is serving our most vulnerable neighbors in their time of need. Sign up at catholiccharitiesoregon.org/newsletter to receive emails from Catholic Charities of Oregon. Inspired by the transformative power of God’s love, Catholic Charities, the social services arm of the Catholic Church in Oregon, partners with the most vulnerable, regardless of faith, to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. Efforts include affordable housing communities, family support services, case management, counseling, food pantries, street outreach, and immigration and refugee assistance programs.
The Archdiocese of Portland issues a regular email newsletter called Parish Link. It focuses largely on archdiocesan announcements from the Archdiocese of Portland Pastoral Center. To subscribe, send a note to [email protected]. Also, keep an eye out at the website archdpdx.org as the archdiocese works on a web page for news.
Mater Dei Radio keeps an eye and an ear on local Catholic happenings, particularly the Morning Blend show with David Endres and Brenda Aikin, which airs 7 – 9 a.m. on 88.3 FM in Portland, Vancouver and Salem; 94.9 and 100.5 in Eugene, Springfield and Cottage Grove. Shows and news also are available at materdeiradio.com and on the free Hail Mary Media app.
We are so grateful that you read our newspapers. We always had you in mind.
Godspeed,
Ed Langlois

Our rich intellectual tradition, our catechism and beautiful doctrine can give us the comical and self-limiting illusion that we completely understand God’s ways. I am sure the Father, Son and Spirit have a good laugh at that. go.sentinel.org/3CD4ypP
