to start a fire, you prepare tinder and
strike fast, move quickly to add kindling,
and probably huff and puff until
it sustains.

what happens from there i’m not sure.
i’ve watched them make fire hundreds of times
during survivor but really was only
trying to stay open to the idea of survival
on the whole.

it was our first peach of the season,
which surprised me because
it’s so early babe!
yet porched, amber eyes, a controlled burn
held that night and the ladybug
chose your back.

there are three key components to catching fire:
heat, oxygen, fuel

thankfully our breath aligned in
your doorway. scared of what could

become of this, of us, we gave way
