The Wandering Soul Project
Hi, I’m Kim. Everything here is real, captured by me. Sometimes imperfect. Always honest❤️
I wander, observe, and document what moves me—quiet moments from the trail, inspired travels that change me, reflections on nature, endurance, and lived experience.

Highlights from our weekend on Ocracoke Island. 🌊✨ I’ve explored up and down the NC coast, but never this far down the Outer Banks—and it did not disappoint.
This road trip began with a two-and-a-half-hour ferry ride ⛴️, setting the tone for something different, slow and chill.
We wandered through British cemeteries and stood in the shadow of the lighthouse. There’s a deep, lingering history here—Blackbeard’s legacy is woven into the salt air.
Live oak forests stretched and twisted along the shoreline, shaped by wind and time, while remnants of past storms were evident in the weathered wood, scattered debris, and miles of sandbags.
Marinas, driftwood, hidden beaches, and those magical sunsets that stop you in your tracks—we walked nearly 12 miles trying to take it all in over just two nights.
I came home with around 700 photos… so this is just the beginning. Each part of this trip could easily become its own series.📸😍
We squeezed every drop out of this adventure—and we’re already dreaming up the next one. 🏕😊 Stay tuned!

There’s a moment right before the dark envelops you, when everything feels sacred. 🙌
Sunsets of Pilot Mountain🌅❤️🌄
Happy Spring Renewal! 🥳🌞🌷
I’ve photographed this ruin before, when it was camouflaged by the stillness of winter—
quiet, grey, almost forgotten. But on this hike, the daffodils were in full bloom. 🌼 Rebirth was unfolding all around us. Planted with love by someone long ago,
they return year after year.
The structure is falling apart, but life keeps rising—without fail. Just because something looks like an ending doesn’t mean it isn’t becoming something new. 💛💚💛

Who doesn't love Llamas? 🥰 Joy shows up in the most unexpected places—sometimes it’s just waiting for you at a fence line, chewing grass and looking deep into your soul. 💛🦙😊

Highlights from our weekend road trip to Pilot Mountain 🚐
It was everything I had hoped for… and more. 🥰
Our first camping trip of the season blessed us with perfect weather—warm, sunny days and crisp, peaceful evenings. 🌞
And somehow, our 14-year-old, new-to-us camper showed up like a seasoned pro—every appliance working flawlessly on 30-amp, shore power (a small miracle, honestly 😄).
We slept so soundly in our cozy camper, it made us want to linger in bed the next morning. But, we got ourselves up so we could squeeze all the juice out of the day, which led us to our next hidden gem, a 4-mile hike along the Yadkin River. 🚶♀️🚶♂️
We wandered over creeks and old railroad tracks, through quiet valleys and rolling hills… the kind of trail that feels like it’s just for you, because nobody else was on it.
Afterwards, we met friends at beautiful Jolo Winery for a fancy lunch 🍷, then meandered over to Divine Llama Vineyard—mostly for the llamas, if we’re being honest (the wine still has some room for growth 🤣).
Afterwards, just Andrew and I made our way to the top of Pilot Mountain, where we watched an epic sunset stretch across the horizon. 🌅
Of course, we ended the way all good days should—curled up with a coffee ☕️ by a warm campfire🔥, under a sky full of stars. 🌠
Simple. Memorable. Leaving us with a heart full of gratitude. 🙌 Exactly what we needed.

Yay! We’re off on an adventure. 🚐
Our new-to-us camper is taking her very first road trip to Pilot Mountain for hiking, vineyards, and time with friends.
It’s not far from home, and we’ll only be gone a few nights — but it feels like the perfect maiden voyage.
After being patient for so long…it feels REALLY good to say we’re doing the dang thing!! 🥳

Tiny Miracles Underfoot🌱Trout Lily 🌼 part 4
Sometimes the forest feels like a cathedral. The posture of the petals reminded me of the hands-in-mudra shape used in meditation 🧘♀️, and the composition with the massive sycamore behind them makes the scene feel almost ceremonial, like the blossoms are tiny monks of the forest. Trout lilies chanting their silent ‘Om’ in homage to the ancient, twisted tree. 🌳

Tiny Miracles Underfoot🌱Trout Lily 🌼 part 3
A little further down the trail, I thought the forest was showing me a different flower specimen.🏵
But, NO! When i googled it, turns out to be the same trout lily blossom— just at a different moment in its becoming. It was just a baby bloom! So precious!! 🥰
