On Saturday, folks from across Durham came together to dream about the city we deserve.
From affordable housing and fully funded schools to fair wages and good jobs, we’re getting clearer about what our communities need and how Duke can invest in the people and places that make Durham thrive.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared your ideas, and brought your energy and dreams.

On Saturday, folks from across Durham came together to dream about the city we deserve.
From affordable housing and fully funded schools to fair wages and good jobs, we’re getting clearer about what our communities need and how Duke can invest in the people and places that make Durham thrive.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared your ideas, and brought your energy and dreams.
Durham Dreams was just the beginning. ☁️
On Saturday, hundreds of workers, families, youth, and elders came together to dream about what Durham could be and what Duke could contribute if it truly invested in the community that built it.
We broke out into conversations about housing, education, Duke workers, and the future of our city. And we filled the walls with our vision for a Durham where everyone can afford to live, work, and raise a family.
The message was clear: Durham is rising and we’re not stopping until we see real change.
Let’s keep that momentum going:

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the time to register and invite your friends, co-workers, and family to come with you.
This Saturday, Durham workers, residents, families, and community members are coming together to build our collective power, learn from each other and community elders, and develop a plan to fight for the city we deserve that is safe, affordable, and thriving for everyone.
Registration & breakfast: 9 AM
Program starts: 10 AM sharp
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Language interpretation is available.

Durham is growing. So why are our public schools still being left behind?
A new report from the Institute for Southern Studies finds that Durham Public Schools face chronic underfunding, $1 billion in needed repairs, staffing shortages, and educator burnout, even as wealthy institutions and corporations in our community continue to prosper.
Our students, educators, and families deserve better.
It’s time for Duke and other wealthy institutions to invest in the schools and communities that make Durham thrive.
