Some recent leaf prints.

I specifically did a few 8x8s to encourage myself to then work on a final piece with them using some 8x8 wood panels that have sitting in my studio for a couple years.
I have piles of leaf prints waiting for me to work with… and plenty of ideas! But then I get nervous about trying to create something more with them. So I’m trying to push myself in that direction with these.

So when I was at the store a few weeks ago to stock up on paper for leaf print season, I got distracted by the existence of BLACK WATERCOLOR PAPER 😯. And I knew had some dichroic and iridescent watercolors that I hadn’t used in ages.

I’ve only tried a few sheets so far, it’s definitely a bit funky to work with. But I’m excited to turn some of these bits into earrings!

My bleeding heart has been up for over a month now, but yesterday was the first leaf print session I did. Bleeding heart leaves are a pain to work with (they like to curl up), but the results are SO worth it.

My oaks and maples are reaching the perfect leaf stage, so I’m hoping to get in lots of painting over the next weeks. So stay tuned for lots of pictures!

The holidays often bring different outlets for my creativity— in decorating, wrapping, or making gifts for loved ones. These are a few homemade gifts from this year: a wreath for my husband’s grandmother, and ornaments for my Scrabble-loving step-MIL. Not my usual crafting style, but so much fun!
