I Am Successful… Unfolding was born from the experience of being judged before being known and has grown into a space honoring Black men whose stories deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Highlighting one of my former I Am Successful… features, Dr. Stanley Andrisse — once incarcerated, now a scientist, author, and educator at Howard University.

He recently shared this with me:
“I’ve done many photo shoots over the years. Yours remains the best. Your work and art is powerful.”

Comments like this remind me why I Am Successful… exists — to uplift Black men, whether they’ve faced incarceration, life’s obstacles, or simply deserve greater visibility.
