We serve the Duke Community by helping individuals develop writing strategies through tutoring sessions and online resources. We promote excellence in writing.

Our goal is to improve writers, as well as individual pieces of writing:

-We suggest strategies, offer encouragement, and provide information to help you move forward with your work. We expect students to take responsibility for their choices with regard to their own writing.
-We help with editing and proofreading techniques you can apply to your own texts, and the extent of help we offer is cons

English Grammar Workshop

English for International Students
Summer 2017 Short Course

May 23–June 15
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
West Campus – Specific location TBD

Overview: The short course is designed to help students increase their awareness of difficult/problematic aspects of grammar, practice grammar interactively within academic contexts, and become familiar with grammar-focused resources that can be used independently.

Eligibility: Priority will be given to currently enrolled graduate students. Students should have completed at least one EIS oral or written English course (if required) and must be able to commit to the full course schedule.

Enrollment: Please contact Dr. Brad Teague at [email protected] to express your interest and to describe why you would like to participate in the short course. Also, please state which EIS courses you have taken or will take, if applicable. Enrollment is limited to 15 students.
