Our vision is for safe, affordable and sustainable transportation for everyone in Durham.

We provide a unified voice for bicycling, walking, and riding transit by promoting a healthy, safe and accessible experience for all in a vibrant, engaged community.

Right now, Durham's officials are arguing over how to split up the transit money we already collect.

Meanwhile the bigger question sits unanswered: when do we get the regional transit network, sidewalks, and protected bike lanes Durham actually needs?

They need to hear that the community wants this. That's why we're spending the summer at Durham Station talking with riders, collecting signatures, and meeting with officials.

We need $7K by June 30 to make it happen: https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/2026-advocacy-appeal-the-path-to-great-transit?source=juneappealsocial2

There’s been an arrest in Saturday’s hit-and-run on NC 751. We’re grateful to everyone who helped, and our hearts are with the rider still in the hospital with a long recovery ahead.

No one should be put in danger for getting around by bike. This is why we keep pushing for streets designed to keep everyone alive.

Marc Maximov doesn't own a car. He gets where he needs to go by bike.

On Saturday evening, riding with a friend on NC 751 near Duke Forest, a driver crossed into them, hit them both, and drove off.

Marc walked away hurt but okay. His friend is still in the hospital.

Here's Marc, in his own words. What he wants you to hear: getting everyone home alive matters more than getting a few people somewhere a little faster, and our streets should be built like they believe that. 🚲

Durham is about to adopt a Bike and Walk Plan with no money behind it. Fare-free buses? Still a fight every single year. 🚨

This summer we're doing something about it. Canvassing at Durham Station, meeting with officials, building a coalition across the region to win real funding for transit, sidewalks, and bike lanes.

We've raised $48K to fund this work and we need $7K more by June 30 to put people on the ground.

Can you support our work on the ground this summer? https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/2026-advocacy-appeal-the-path-to-great-transit?source=facebookappeal1

Move-A-Bull City: Open streets is BACK in 2026 on October 4th, from 12-4pm.

We are Connecting the Ellerbe creek trail and the American to***co trail via 1.2 miles of streets closed to cars, open to y'all—all in the heart of downtown Durham!

Walk, bike, roll, dance, skip, scoot your way through downtown Durham. Nine activity zones. Live music. Food. Fitness. Arts. Kids' stuff. All free.

Every day, people across Durham are biking, walking, and riding transit, but our streets weren't built to make that safe or easy. Move-A-Bull City is what it looks like when we build them for people instead of cars. Come see your city the way it could be.

Sign up at moveabull.org to get updates and be first to hear about volunteer opportunities.

"Bicyclists are invisible..."

We're still thinking about the Ride of Silence last month. The moment of togetherness has stayed with us as a true display of community.

Thank you to everyone who came out and rode with us, and to and for capturing what that evening felt like.

And thank you to Patrick Craft for sharing your story with .

Last night we gathered at Durham Bottling Co. to celebrate the people who made this year possible: PE teachers, volunteers, school staff, and partners.

Through partnerships with 13 Durham Public Schools, over 1,200 students received pedestrian safety education and more than 2,500 participated in bicycle safety programming this year.

Our ride marshals, event volunteers, and tabling crews kept every group ride and community event running.

One teacher shared a story of watching a student go from afraid to ride to fluent on a bike by the end of the program and how that moment made it all feel worth it.

None of that happens without the people in that room.

Congratulations to Dr. Vanessa Alford of C.C. Spaulding Elementary, recognized as Principal of the Year, and to Dr. Wanda McClain-Daye, recipient of the Caroline Shauger Memorial Teacher of the Year Award — named in memory of Caroline Shauger, an avid cyclist whose life was taken by a driver in 2016, and in honor of her daughter Allison, former Bike Durham board chair, who channeled her grief into advocacy for safe streets.

Thank you to Safe Routes To School and Donna Lopp for tremendous support of pedestrian education. And to Durham Bike Co-op. Without them we wouldn't have bikes. They keep our fleet running, support our classes, and provided bike giveaways for schools across Durham.

To every DPS school that welcomed us in and every volunteer who gave their time: Thank you. We can't wait to do it again.
