Last week, the RTHS faculty and staff had the privilege of honoring a cherished member of our school family as we welcomed back longtime math teacher, Mr. Alan Goldstein.
Before retiring last fall, Mr. Goldstein spent 11 years teaching AP Calculus and Engineering at RTHS, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. Known for his dedication, expertise, and genuine care for those around him, he quickly became a beloved part of the RTHS community.
To recognize his years of service and the legacy he leaves behind, the school unveiled a plaque outside his longtime classroom, permanently dedicating the space in his honor.
While Mr. Goldstein is greatly missed, his influence continues to be felt throughout our halls. We are grateful for all he contributed to RTHS and look forward to welcoming him and his wife, Kathy, back to campus for many visits to come.

Last Thursday, our campus hosted our 4th Annual Visual Arts Showcase! 🎨✨
The Art 3H students worked incredibly hard to bring this event to life, and their dedication truly showed in every detail. The showcase featured an impressive collection of artwork from students across our visual arts program, including Art 1, Art 2, Art 3H, AP Art, and Senior Arts Lab.
From the student-created arts market to the food, interactive art activities, and karaoke, the evening was a true celebration of creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression!
Thank you to everyone in the RTHS community who came out to support our student artists and help make the event so special. We are so proud of the talent, imagination, and hard work on display!

As we celebrate the last full week of school, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a very special week dedicated to the incredible educators and staff who make RTHS such a special place!
During Teacher Appreciation Week, our school community came together in so many meaningful ways to celebrate the people who pour so much into our students every single day.
Thank you as well to our amazing PTSO for providing a delicious staff lunch, and to our Board of Directors for treating our team to breakfast as part of the celebration. Also thank you to our RTHS National Beta Club for sponsoring a full week of themed appreciation activities, helping make each day feel extra special!
Our administration team also joined in the fun with thoughtful surprises throughout the week, including a custom hat bar, a visit from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, Nothing Bundt Cakes, special lunches, and RTHS merch gifts!
It truly takes a village, and we are so grateful for a school community that shows up so intentionally for our staff. As we head into the final stretch of the school year, thank you to every teacher, staff member, parent, student, and supporter that help make RTHS such an incredible place to learn and grow.

Good afternoon RTHS Families,
We are writing to provide an update regarding the recent cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, a learning management system used across the nation and as North Carolina's main LMS.
Over the weekend, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) received an interim assessment from CrowdStrike, the third-party cybersecurity firm advising on the incident. NCDPI has been informed by Instructure that the Canvas environment throughout the nation and here in NC has no ongoing signs of compromise.
As a result, NCDPI will restore statewide connectivity with Canvas today, May 11, at approximately 4 p.m.
Following that guidance, Research Triangle High School, will be reenabling access at that time.
For an overview of the incident and the latest updates from Instructure, families may visit the company’s incident status page.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to protect student and educator information and support uninterrupted teaching and learning.
Best,
Cornelius Gloria
Director of Technology

On April 18th, our juniors and seniors enjoyed a memorable evening at prom last weekend at the Millennium Hotel Durham. With the theme Under the Golden Lanterns, the venue was filled with warm lighting, great music, and lots of celebration!
Students danced the night away, participated in prom court voting, and made lasting memories with friends. Thank you to everyone who helped make the night run smoothly, including staff, chaperones, and student leaders✨

It's been one week since we returned from Spring Break, and we’re looking back at an incredible group of students, led by Mrs. Sadhwani and Ms. Keene, who took an unforgettable journey to Peru 🇵🇪
From Lima to Cusco and the Sacred Valley, students immersed themselves in culture, history, and language, exploring Inca sites like Machu Picchu, connecting with local communities, and growing through real-world learning experiences. Their trip was filled with Spanish immersion and cultural exchanges to meaningful service work with the Sacred Valley Project. This trip was about so much more than travel. It was about perspective, connection, and growth.
We’re so proud of how our students represented RTHS and embraced every moment of this unforgettable experience!
